And every day, he takes the exact same route. It’s as if he’s retracing a well-worn path … as if he’s done it hundreds of times before.

This gorgeous pooch, a white Japanese Akita, belonged to artist Claudio Cantarelli in a small Brazilian town.

Everyone knew and loved Thor, and they all respected Claudio as well.

They’d take long daily walks together and that became like a ritual; all the townspeople fully expected to see Claudio and Thor every single morning.

Said Airton Oliveira, a local hairdresser:

“Every day, for over a decade, Claudio would go out with Thor and walk the same path.“

Sadly, the dog would outlive his master.

Claudio tragically passed away at the too-young age of 58, leaving Thor a lonely orphan.

At first, Thor just couldn’t handle that his beloved owner and companion was gone. As a caring neighbor,  Saionara Freitas, reflects:

“Thor stopped eating when Claudio died.

I was so upset to see how sad he was I asked Claudio’s family if I could look after him.”

Yes, Saionara stepped in to care for Thor but of course, the poor pooch still misses his owner.

And so, every day, the loyal dog walks the old path he and Claudio took, from the vet’s to the lottery to the restaurant. A perfect loop.

Thor religiously follows this path as if Claudio was still alive. It’s a heartbreaking tribute that everyone in town greatly respects.

Adds Saionara:

“I have watched as he lies down outside the clinic where Claudio would stop and chat and sits and waits outside the lottery.

“He looks like he’s hoping Claudio will turn up and I swear I have seen tears in his eyes.”

Thankfully, Thor is feeling much better with his new owner, and he’s getting used to the idea of having a new owner.

And it seems as if his walk actually helps, too.

But above all else, this proves one thing: the undying loyalty of our canine friends. It’s the most incredible thing, isn’t it?

Whitney Braley’s service dog is usually friendly and easygoing but for some reason, she suddenly seemed awfully distraught.

Then Whitney realized Banner was trying to get her to follow her into the nearby forest.

In fact, the dog was so anxious for Whitney to follow that she actually kept tugging on her dress. It was a very clear “help me!” sign!

Well, Whitney couldn’t ignore that request, so she followed her beloved pup into the woods … and there she was met with an astonishing sight:

Sitting in the middle of a lightly wooded area was a cardboard box. And inside were 7 tiny newborn creatures, which were barely clinging to life.

Banner was acting like a mom! But she hadn’t found a box of puppies …

No, she’d found a box of kittens!

Not only was Banner trying to help them, she gently took one of them in her mouth as if to say, “I’ll take care of them, I swear!”

Whitney picked up the box and took the kittens home, with Banner hot on her heels.

Banner took on her new role of foster mom with vigor and care: she cleaned the kittens up and stayed by their side constantly.

Nothing bad was going to happen to those struggling kittens with Banner around!

Said Whitney:

“Someone must have just put [the kittens] into a cardboard box, closed the lid tight and left them there to die.

They probably thought that no one would ever discover them.

But I’m so happy that now because of Banner, these kittens will go on to live their lives with loving families. It warms my heart.”

Wonderful dogs like this just don’t get enough credit, do they?

It’s as if they’re angels on earth, and they just want to care for all living creatures!

What they found absolutely shattered their hearts:

It was an abandoned puppy and someone had obviously dumped it and left it to die. How evil can a person get?!

The puppy squirmed and yelped and desperately needed some assistance, so one of the women reached in to help him.

And that’s when they both realized why the poor pup had been tossed away:

The little guy had no front legs!

Heartsick, the two women contacted The Dog Rescuers group and hoped against hope that something could be done.

This adorable pooch deserved a chance to have a great life, didn’t he? Don’t all living creatures deserve that opportunity?

Thankfully, The Dog Rescuers group was quick to act; they immediately took hold of the frightened pup and named him Cupid.

That was partly because the beautiful little tyke’s nose was shaped exactly like a heart! Said group president Joan Znidarec:

“His name is so appropriate in so many ways … Not only does he have a heart-shaped nose but he captures everybody’s hearts in seconds.”

But how would Cupid ever be able to walk?

Well, the group went out of their way to fashion a pair of prosthetic legs, which helps the disabled pup move about. He can walk and even play!

Znidarec plans to give Cupid to a good owner once the pup has a better hang of his fancy new legs.

“We’re looking for a perfect fit for him, someone who obviously understands his needs … He’s going to have a happy little life.”

It’d be extremely difficult to look at this adorable face and not fall instantly in love.

There’s no doubt in our minds that Cupid will find his fur-ever home, and he will indeed have the chance to live a loving, wonderful life!

When Kaylyn Marie got locked out of her house one day, she knew her dog Sam would be worried. But she didn’t really believe he could help.

The problem was a little more complicated than one might initially believe:

Kaylyn had been swimming in her backyard pool and her pup was inside, waiting for her to finish (all dogs wait for their beloved owners!).

But when Kaylyn got out, she realized the piece of wood that blocks the sliding door had fallen back into place. She couldn’t get in!

It wasn’t that the door was locked; the piece of wood just wouldn’t allow the door to move.

Sam noticed Kaylyn’s distress, however, and jumped to help!

Kaylyn pointed to the piece of wood and Sam immediately went to work …but could he really manage it? As Kaylyn told The Dodo:

“I was able to get him to start pawing at the door. I honestly didn’t think he’d be able to do it.“

And at first, the enthusiastic pooch couldn’t quite get the piece of wood free. He pawed at it for a bit, but then turned around, as if he was giving up.

However, he returned quickly for another attempt and this time, he maneuvered the stick free and snagged it with his teeth!

Seconds later, Kaylyn was inside and very proud of her smart dog.

Sometimes, they pull of feats that nobody can explain, not even animal experts or medical professionals. And that’s precisely what makes dogs perfect companions for humans.

When you least expect it, your four-legged friend might do something that can actually save your life, so pay attention!

Case in point: Lauren Gauthier of Buffalo, New York, was confused when her coonhound dog Victoria kept sniffing at her nose.

There was a small reddish lump there and though it was a tad unsightly, Lauren wasn’t too concerned. And yet, Victoria just wouldn’t leave her alone.

Day after day, Victoria would put go nose-to-nose with her owner, sniffing at that tiny little bump.

As it turns out, the concerned dog had a very good reason for being fixated with Lauren’s nostril. And if Lauren hadn’t visited the doctor, it might’ve been too late…

As she told InsideEdition.com, it was determined that the bump was basal cell carcinoma, a type of skin cancer.

And Victoria had known!

“She’d been literally putting her nose onto my nose where the cancer was.

My dog’s persistence in smelling that area made me wonder if there was something suspicious about it.”

Lauren thinks the cancer came from using a tanning bed three times a week when she was a teenager.

And years later, it was her adorable rescued pooch that called attention to the danger lurking in her system.

“She started smelling a specific area of my nose to the extent that she would actually touch her nose to mine where the cancer is and lean back and look at me and smell it again and look at me.

It was very odd and she kept doing it repeatedly and I thought that that was a little bit unusual for her to do.”

As you might expect, Lauren is now warning teens to avoid those suntan beds, and she’s also thanking her lucky stars for Victoria. As she added later:

“Hounds have a keen sense of smell but I never thought that I would personally benefit from it!”

Lauren is getting better by the day, too, so this story certainly has a happy ending.

And you can bet that Victoria will have a loving owner forever, and one who will never forget what man’s best friend did for her!

It’s heartbreaking to see a hawk or an owl pluck up a smaller animal and carry it away through the treetops.

Your heart aches thinking of the panic the small animal is feeling until it’s finally put out of its misery.

When Felipe Rodriguez was alone at his sister’s house in Bowmanstown, Pennsylvania, he looked out the window just in time to see a heart-wrenching sight:

An eagle comes soaring down from the sky and plucks up one of his sister’s beloved dogs from the ground!

He went racing outside, but the eagle was long gone. And so was little Zoey.

But Felipe wasn’t giving up; he jumped in his car and took off in the direction the bird had gone.

His only hope at this point would be that the eagle would drop the dog for some reason, and he could at least have a body for his sister to bury.

As he drove, the thought of never seeing Zoey again made him sick to his stomach. He couldn’t imagine how heartbroken his sister was going to be when she heard the news.

The little seven-year-old Bichon Frise had been a very important part of his sister’s life for a long time, after all.

And unfortunately, Rodriguez’s sister, Monica Newhard, was indeed devastated when her brother told her the news. She couldn’t stop crying.

She and her husband went out into the woods in the horrible winter weather to look for their beloved Zoey, but they found no trace of their beloved pet.

But amazingly, all hope was not lost…

Later that day, a woman named Christina Hartman was driving on a snowy road four miles from Newhard’s home, when she saw a furry white blob in the street.

She immediately pulled over to see what it was and found a little fuzzy dog, nearly frozen solid with icicles hanging all over her.

The dog was clearly in shock, almost comatose, and with odd wounds on her shoulder and neck.

Christina took the dog home, warmed her up, fed her, attended to her wounds then got online to see if she could find anything about someone missing a dog.

And she was stunned beyond belief when she saw a Facebook story about a woman whose little white dog had been picked up by an eagle earlier that afternoon.

Looking at the photo attached to the story, Christina knew that she was looking at a miracle. “There is a God,” she said in an interview later.

She didn’t recognize the people in the photograph, but there was no question that the little dog she had rescued from the middle of the road in a freezing rain was….Zoey! Alive!

Monica couldn’t believe it when she got the message that Zoey had been found.

She ran outside and sped to Christina’s house to see for herself. She couldn’t believe it until she saw Zoey with her own eyes. And then…there she was!

Never was there a happier reunion, even though poor Zooey was still in shock. Can you imagine the horrors she had gone through in the last few hours?

Nobody will ever know exactly what happened or why the eagle had relinquished his dinner. But, everyone involved is forever grateful that he did!

Thanks to Christina’s quick thinking to get Zoey to warm safety, the adorable pup survived with very little ill effects.

It’s very difficult to get Zoey to go outside these days, though. But can you really blame her?
