<p>And can you blame them?</p>
<p>A German shepherd, Iris, and a pit bull, Clover, stuck by each other. They were survivors.</p>
<p>Locals say the poor pups had been abandoned, and both had been living in a nearby forest for weeks.</p>
<p><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-15461" src="http://addictingstories.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/IrisAndCloverPic.jpg" alt="" width="650" height="594" srcset="https://addictingstories.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/IrisAndCloverPic.jpg 640w, https://addictingstories.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/IrisAndCloverPic-300x274.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px" /></p>
<p>And the problem was that nobody could get close enough to help, because the frightened dogs were simply too scared. They always ran away.</p>
<p>But one rescuer was determined to gain the trust of both pooches.</p>
<p>Judy Obregon is the founder of The Abandoned Ones (TAO), and she was convinced she could get Iris and Clover to trust her.</p>
<p>It was going to take time, patience, and skill, though. As Obregon wrote on Facebook:</p>
<p>https://www.facebook.com/taoanimalrescue/videos/1793241814072353/</p>
<section class="body-text u-color--medium-gray u-color--close-to-home-links has-mobile-padding is-standard">
<div class="body-text__content">
<section class="body-text u-color--medium-gray u-color--close-to-home-links has-mobile-padding is-standard">
<div class="body-text__content">
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p class="body-text__paragraph-text">&#8220;<strong><em>I said the same thing to her every day for her to know my voice and trust that one day her life would change.</em></strong></p>
<p class="body-text__paragraph-text"><em>It&#8217;s all so rewarding when we can change the fear they have into a smile.</em>&#8220;</p>
<p>So, she kept saying, &#8220;your life will change&#8221; over and over, in varying patterns, every single day.</p>
<p>See? We told you she was determined! <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f600.png" alt="😀" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-15462" src="http://addictingstories.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/RescuerAndIrisPic.jpg" alt="" width="650" height="646" srcset="https://addictingstories.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/RescuerAndIrisPic.jpg 640w, https://addictingstories.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/RescuerAndIrisPic-150x150.jpg 150w, https://addictingstories.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/RescuerAndIrisPic-300x298.jpg 300w, https://addictingstories.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/RescuerAndIrisPic-100x100.jpg 100w, https://addictingstories.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/RescuerAndIrisPic-80x80.jpg 80w" sizes="(max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px" /></p>
<p>And at long last, the tactic started to work. Iris and Clover let Obregon got closer and closer as the days passed&#8230;</p>
<p>Then one day, Obregon and the rescue team were finally able to snag both pups, and they immediately sent them to fantastic foster homes.</p>
<p>Thanks to Obregon&#8217;s initial trust-building, the pooches are doing quite well in those homes, too.</p>

<div class="body-text__content">
<p class="body-text__paragraph-text">Here&#8217;s the update for Iris:</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-15464" src="http://addictingstories.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/IrisPupPic.jpg" alt="" width="651" height="488" srcset="https://addictingstories.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/IrisPupPic.jpg 640w, https://addictingstories.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/IrisPupPic-300x225.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 651px) 100vw, 651px" /></p>
<section class="body-text u-color--medium-gray u-color--close-to-home-links has-mobile-padding is-standard">
<div class="body-text__content">
<p class="body-text__paragraph-text">&#8220;<em>She enjoys being bathed, brushed, and even does little dances for you, says [her] foster mom.</em></p>
<p class="body-text__paragraph-text"><strong><em>Some would think, due to the fear she had, it would take months and months &#8230; This is proof that&#8217;s not the case with every stray.</em></strong>&#8220;</p>
<p>And Clover:</p>
<p>&#8220;<em>Clover, too, has truly blossomed since his rescue, bonding closely with the other animals and kids at his foster home.</em></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-15465" src="http://addictingstories.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/CloverPupPic.jpg" alt="" width="650" height="650" srcset="https://addictingstories.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/CloverPupPic.jpg 640w, https://addictingstories.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/CloverPupPic-150x150.jpg 150w, https://addictingstories.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/CloverPupPic-300x300.jpg 300w, https://addictingstories.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/CloverPupPic-100x100.jpg 100w, https://addictingstories.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/CloverPupPic-80x80.jpg 80w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px" /></p>
<p class="body-text__paragraph-text"><em>As much as Clover loves people, he is especially close with other dogs&#8230;</em></p>
<p class="body-text__paragraph-text"><strong><em>&#8230;perhaps his close friendship with Iris for those weeks in the woods had a lasting impression on him.</em></strong>&#8220;</p>
<p>He&#8217;ll definitely need another dog at home to bond with, and if he gets that, he&#8217;ll be a wonderful companion.</p>
<p>This is a very happy ending, of course, but you see just how diligent kind-hearted rescuers must be! <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f642.png" alt="🙂" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></p>
