It all began when Dave pulled over near a bright, sun-splashed field to enjoy the view. A group of cows grazed lazily nearby.

Then something strange happened:

One of the cows appeared anxious and for some reason, she kept trying to get Dave’s attention.

The cow was mooing and scraping the dirt, and often looking in Dave’s direction, as if to say, “Come over and see!”

But why would a cow want a human to follow her? Cows aren’t exactly known for being especially social, after all.

Well, Dave was definitely curious. And there really did seem to be something amiss … that’s when Dave decided he’d follow the cow.

And boy, was he glad he did!

He followed the nervous cow to a wire fence, and that’s where she leaned down to sniff at something…

It was a newborn calf!

And obviously, the poor little guy wasn’t in good condition. The calf appeared to be severely dehydrated and worse still, the fresh umbilical cord was still attached.

This was a very new baby, of course, and she was in desperate need of assistance. But there was another problem:

The fence was electrified! Dave would have to brave that fence if he wanted to help the struggling newborn.

He took the chance and unfortunately, he got shocked a few times … but he wasn’t to be deterred!

He was able to extricate the frightened and ailing newborn and the mother cow – later named Flo – was so happy to get her baby back!

This is another one of those kitty (or doggie) in a box stories, right?

They’re cute, of course, but a little too common and predictable. No, this time, what a very surprised woman found in a cardboard box in her backyard isn’t even remotely predictable…

A woman in England came outside and found this box, sitting in a corner of her garden. It was partially open and she thought she heard movement coming from inside.

There’s no way of knowing what was inside; it could be something nasty, like a snake or a bunch of rats, or something like that.

So, she was careful … she inched closer and then she thought she heard a sound. And it most definitely wasn’t a meow or a bark!

She got close enough, reached down, and lifted one of the flaps on the box. And inside, she was met with the most adorable sight:

A pair of ducklings!

They looked scared, which isn’t too surprising, but they otherwise appeared to be in good health. Still, this good woman wasn’t quite sure how to handle the situation.

After all, not everyone is equipped to care for farm animals, which might be the reason the poor duck babies were abandoned in the first place.

So, their rescuer did the right thing: she called the RSPCA, where inspector Sophie John quickly took them under her wing (pun intended). As she said in a press release:

“I believe the ducklings are Khaki Campbells and are around 3 weeks old.

They still have fluffy, downy features, so have a bit of growing to do yet.”

A vet determined both ducklings were indeed in good condition, and John decided to name the fluffy babies Thelma and Louise.

They’re now in the care of another RSPCA employee, inspector Nina Small, until they’re old enough to find a forever home.

John believes the ducklings proved to be too much of a challenge for someone, which is why there were left in a cardboard box in a stranger’s yard.

“They grow quickly and if their environment isn’t well managed, it can get quite messy…

…so I suspect, when someone realized how big these two ducks would get and got fed up of cleaning up after them, they decided to abandon them so they would be someone else’s problem.”

They’re a lifetime commitment, just like any pet, so don’t go buying animals on a whim!

And if you do find that they’re too much for you, and you’ve made a mistake, please do the responsible thing and try to find them a good home.

And if humans aren’t paying attention, they can miss a creature’s cries for help, especially if their prison isn’t immediately visible.

That’s what happened to the daughter of Nick and Marnie Zielinski when she was strolling around the family farm with her best friend.

The two kids heard an animal crying for help but they couldn’t quite tell what the animal was, or where the cries were coming from…

That’s when they suddenly realized the cries of distress were actually coming from beneath their feet!

The daughter ran to get her parents and all of them began digging, where they found one of the farm’s black dam pipes. How could anything get in there?

More importantly, how could anything live in there for very long?

Everyone knew they had to act fast, so they dug away more dirt and pried apart the pipe … and that’s when a furry shock popped out to greet them!

It was a baby lamb and though they had had to use a crowbar during their rescue, they were sure not to hurt the adorable farm babe.

They also had to be careful because they used an angle grinder to cut open the pipe; that must’ve been a terrifying experience for the tiny lamb!

But everything worked out and once the lamb was free, everyone can be heard crying, “I want to hold it!” And who wouldn’t want to hold it?

A video of the rescue was put up on Facebook and has since garnered plenty of attention. Here’s one of the inspired responses:

“Oh my goodness! Such a lucky little lamby! You guys are a great team I love all the volunteering for first cuddles.

So sweet. Hope he survivors [sic] with some TLC. Good work!”

And in honor of the epic rescue, the family named the baby lamb “Pipe-o.” Let’s just hope that Pipe-o steers clear of any pipes in the future!

Otherwise, the kids and their parents will have to sprint out with more tools and execute another tense rescue operation.

Their farm is chock full of the usual suspects – cows, sheep, chickens cats, and dogs – but it was completely devoid of ducks.

That led the Irish couple to purchase some fertilized duck eggs and patiently wait for them to hatch.

The big day finally arrived, and Ronan decided to take a break and check in the fluffy new brood.

But to his amazement (and fear), they were nowhere to be found!

The frantic couple began to search high and low for the little duckies, and they suddenly realized what had happened…

They came across one of their cats with one of the ducklings in its mouth, and they naturally feared the worst.

Indeed, cats tend to feast on little birdies.

Thankfully, their instincts were way off the mark this time around.

In fact, they couldn’t possibly have guessed what this amazing cat did with her snagged duckling!

The loving kitty had absolutely no intention of harming the duckling, but rather gently put it down right next to her.

Soon thereafter, the rest of the ducklings came waddling over as well.

The cat was caring for the ducklings as if they were her own offspring!

On top of which, the ducklings were perfectly happy to accept the doting kitty as a wonderful foster mom.

As you can imagine, that resulted in one of the most adorable scenes that you’ll ever see.

The ducklings have grown up a bit since then, but they continue to follow the cat around as much as possible.

The most unlikely BFFs, right here!

If you ever meet one, sit and talk for a bit; he’ll likely have plenty of laugh-out-loud stories you never expected to hear.

It would be a mistake to assume farmers can only talk about cows and hay…and another mistake to assume that hay can’t be hilarious!

Case in point:

A farmer is out in a field full of huge hay bales. Raking bales of hay into big wheel-like objects makes it easier to store them, and prevents rotting.

Yeah, it’s a simple thing and in point of fact, hay isn’t especially interesting on its own.

So, why is this farmer actually going out of his way to film one of those hay bales…?

Well, keep your eyes on that hay bale because seconds before you go, “what’s the point of this?” you’ll see something you won’t believe…

The hay bale actually starts to move! It begins to rock from side to side, which seems completely impossible.

It isn’t wind (it would take a hurricane to move that huge thing) and there are no other people around. So what’s the deal?

To solve the strange mystery of the “dancing hay bale,” the farmer creeps closer and that’s when everything becomes very clear:

The “hay monster” is revealed to be little more than a common farm denizen! But can you guess which one?

It would have to be big enough to make that bale of hay move about, right? Think about it.
