The intervention can take on many different forms, but sometimes it’s as simple as a random act of kindness from a complete stranger that can amount to just the kick in the pants that’s needed.

That was the goal of 89-year-old Sylvia Robinson, who just so happened to come across a story about a young man that had made an incredibly poor choice.

Cameron McCormack, 19, had been charged with armed robbery after stealing $26 from a person that he had met online.

McCormack immediately fessed up when he was confronted by police, and it turned out his weapon of choice was nothing more than a pellet gun.

He explained to the cops that he had only robbed the victim because he was desperately trying to come up with his rent money.

Robinson was touched by the tale, and she was quite impressed with the fact that McCormack was being so honest about things.

As she saw it, this was a sign that there was some hope for him, and she decided to show him that there in fact was some out there.

And as she was a former pastor, she had spent a lifetime being compassionate and kind to people…so it was time to do it once again.

Immediately, the former pastor cut him a check for $100 and sent it off to him.

“I thought that maybe this kid just needs to know that somebody cares,” she said.

“Maybe he just needs a shot in the arm.”

Robinson believes that if the man in question realizes that he isn’t alone in this world, that people really do care about his plight, he’ll buckle down and set things right.

“We hope he won’t do it again because he knows there are people who care,” she said.

“I don’t know him, I just know he’s a young man who could use a little help.“

She’s not sure if the funds have reached the young man as of yet, but she’s hoping that her message inspires others to do more of the same when they encounter a similarly unfortunate situation.

The elderly woman might just be on to something, as signs of hope have a way of providing clarity for those who are working their way through some troubled times.

And if they succeed, they often look back on their lives and try to find the turning point.

That turning point might just involve a kindly stranger who reminded them that in fact, we’re all in this together!

The 26-year-old London resident was out for a simple bike ride when she was suddenly involved in a serious accident.

This wasn’t just some skinned elbows and banged up knees we’re talking about…Clark was injured so severely that she was in immediate need of medical attention.

Thankfully, some kind passersby saw what happened and rushed to her aid.

Their kindness still sticks with her to this day.

“For almost an hour, five or six total strangers stayed with me until the ambulance arrived,” Ruth recalled.

“While I was lying on the road, covered in blood and bruises, and suffering broken bones, they were all looking after me.

One person even ran home to grab blankets and pillows to keep me warm, another gave up his yoga mat for me to lie on.

One woman, Camila, came with me to the hospital and stayed with me again for almost an hour until my sister arrived.”

Fast forward to today, and Ruth is all healed up.

On a recent walk to work, she passed by the spot of her accident. Naturally, the memories flooded back.

But as she recalled the terrible accident, she was pleasantly surprised to find something that would completely brighten her spirits:

A kind stranger had dropped a bouquet of flowers with a simple but unbelievable note attached.

“I haven’t stopped smiling since. I shared the picture with friends and family to spread the love, and then shared on Twitter as it was too nice not to share with the world.“

We’re going to go out on a limb and assume that Ruth had little trouble following the instructions on the touching note that was left by a random stranger.

Yes, it’s incredibly ironic but it’s also amazingly kind, wouldn’t you say?

The letter wasn’t merely penned for Ruth; it was penned for anyone who needs a little spirit boost, anyone who needs to wake up the next morning with a smile.

And that, of course, is invaluable to all of mankind!

This inspiring little tale provides further confirmation of the power of random acts of kindness – even the anonymous ones.

The child’s belly just didn’t look right and began to swell, and her skin had the frightening appearance of jaundice.

The troubled parents would wind up at Boston Children’s at Waltham hospital, and they would soon receive some absolutely terrifying news…

And it’s exactly the sort of news all parents dread.

Sloan was in stage four liver failure due to a rare disease, and she would need a donor within two weeks just to survive.

Sarah notes that the couple was crippled with “gut-wrenching fear and terror,” but they immediately put the wheels in motion to desperately search for a donor.

Unfortunately, all the usual avenues produced dead ends, which led the couple to put up a last-second plea on social media. 

Lt. Steven Tenney, a New Hampshire police officer and distant acquaintance of the family, just so happened to see the plea, and he knew exactly what he had to do.

He decided he was going to donate his healthy liver and save the little girl’s life!

Tests confirmed that he was indeed a match, too, and he would enter the hospital to have a fifth of his liver removed. Talk about brave!

Little Sloan would go into surgery soon thereafter and after eight grueling hours, Sloan’s relieved parents learned the transplant was a success.

The family unsurprisingly views Tenney as a hero but you know, he really doesn’t see it that way at all.

“Something you have to do as a human being,” he simply said.

Steven would meet Sloan for the very first time about two weeks later, and it’s quite clear that the pair has an indelible bond.

Fast forward to today, and Sloan is nine-months-old and doing just fine, thanks to her officer savior.

None of that would be possible without Tenney’s selfless act, and the St. James family is forever grateful to the officer angel who saved their baby girl’s life.

This is one instance where the police officer saved a person’s life without ever drawing his weapon…instead, he just used his very big heart!
