Things seemed pretty normal … until she stumbled across 10 abandoned kittens huddled by the side of the road!

These poor little kitties were scared and starving, though they didn’t seem too frightened by Bree’s pet pup.

Bree just wasn’t sure what she should do for the kittens; she couldn’t very well take all 10 home, and she lived a mile away.

So, she thought she’d go home and call a rescue team. It was her best option.

But when she started off down the road again, all 10 baby cats started following her!

Bree kept looking behind her and there they were, following as quickly as they could … again, not even caring one fig about Bree’s dog!

Bree wasn’t too sure what the kittens wanted, though…

Perhaps they only wanted food or some company, but would ten kittens really follow someone for a mile down the road?

Maybe they wanted something more.

Bree was determined to find out, that’s for sure!

She let the kittens follow her and her dog, and when one of the baby cats fell behind, she picked him up and carried him.

Finally, the long mile was over and Bree was home … with a whole bevy of kittens on her heels!

And the instant all the kittens were inside the house, Bree realized that every last one of these poor orphans wanted one thing:

LOVE.

They didn’t follow this strange woman for a mile for only food or water. They didn’t do it because they were terrified.

They did it because they wanted to be loved! And the one person who was supposed to love them, ditched them instead.

And Bree was just so disgusted that someone would do such a thing:

“I was disgusted that someone had just dumped them.

If you can’t afford to desex your cat, or look after and find homes for kittens don’t own a cat.”

Well said!

And by the way, that one little kitten that couldn’t keep up with its brothers and sisters? The one Bree carried?

She ended up keeping that little guy!

And Bree will now see to it that the other nine kittens also find good homes, because that’s what kind-hearted humans do.

In the end, our four-legged friends just want to be loved … if they’re following you, you can bet that’s what they want!

After all, it happens all the time.

People accidentally forget their belongings, especially when traveling. But the suitcase was in a strange spot…

It had been dumped on the side of the road, which is a weird place to forget your luggage.

And then, when the vet got a little closer, she spotted something sinister: air holes!

Somebody had poked air holes in the suitcase and there could be only reason for that:

They’d left an animal inside!

Well, being a vet, this kind soul couldn’t possibly ignore the bag any longer. So, she approached and carefully unzipped the suitcase.

She wasn’t prepared for what jumped out, that’s for sure!

15 kittens!

That’s right, 15 kittens of all different kinds; tabbies, grays, black-and-whites, all stuffed inside and left to die.

The air holes were a nice thought but obviously, without food or water, these little tykes wouldn’t have lasted very long.

The vet was instantly smitten, and she rushed all the kittens to the Cats Protection Hornchurch & District Branch for immediate attention.

As the shelter’s Welfare and Homing Officer, Alison Gambles, told Inside Edition:

“Sadly, the case was found [standing] up, which meant the kittens would have all been laying on top of each other.”

It really had been a terrible situation for the furry babies.

But the good news was that besides a few eye infections, most of the kittens appeared to be in decent condition, so they couldn’t have been there for very long.

The vet thinks the kittens were dumped by a greedy breeder, as the kitties were from three or four different litters.

Added Gambles:

“…people find they have more kittens than they can cope with because they haven’t had their cats neutered.”

Yes, well, it was their mistake and their responsibility, right?

But at least these furry cuties won’t have to worry about dying alone; all of them will be up for adoption once they’re old enough.

And it’s all thanks to a kindly veterinarian, who got a chance to do her job … before she ever got to work that day!

She didn’t hear anything as she drove her van down the road.

But the instant she stopped, she heard tiny cries coming from somewhere…

Eunika recognized the cries as faint meowing, but she didn’t own a cat! And yet, it was definitely meowing, and it was close by.

She started looking around the inside of the van, and began to wonder if a stray kitty had jumped inside when she wasn’t looking.

But though the meowing continued, there was still no sign of a cat.

And that’s when Eunika finally spotted her … a kitten trapped in the fender well!

It was quite the sight! The stunned driver immediately called Petersburg Animal Care & Control and also contacted a local mechanic shop, Leete Tire & Auto.

Said Leete vice president Lea Tatum Rowsey:

“We told her to come on in and our service manager would assist.

Once [they] arrived, our service manager, Warren Strum, jumped to the rescue and started removing the fender liner.

The kitten, which you could only barely see through a small hole in the open driver side door, was meowing and clearly in distress.”

Nobody knew just how long the poor creature had been trapped in there, which is probably why she was so scared and agitated.

But finally, after about 10 minutes of careful work, rescuers popped the little guy free!

Thankfully, though the kitten was obviously thin and frightened, she didn’t appear to have any injuries.

She was given the name “Kia” for being so brave, but she didn’t have a collar or any other form of identification.

Therefore, rescuers on the scene arranged for her to be taken to a nearby shelter. What else could they do?

Well, that move wouldn’t be necessary!

As it turns out, an employee in the tire shop saw the whole thing, and instantly fell in love with Kia. He couldn’t let her got to any shelter, so…

The employee immediately adopted Kia, right on the spot!

Her new dad is service technician Chuck Williams and he’s the perfect owner for Kia. Said Rowsey:

“He is a longtime cat lover and instantly bonded with Kia.

We were so overjoyed to not only assist in the safe rescue, but also to witness her finding, or hitching a ride, to her new forever home.”

How’s that for a perfect ending to a strange and harrowing situation?

A McDonald’s employee named Oasha Santiago looked out the restaurant window, and noticed the stray feline wandering around near her car.

When she got off work a little later, though, she went outside and realized the cat was nowhere in sight.

But she was certain she’d seen the cat for most of the day … he had to be nearby, right?

So, Oasha decided to look around a bit for the missing kitty. And it’s a darn good thing she did!

Because unbelievably enough, Oasha eventually found the cat…

But he had wedged himself inside the car’s mechanical housing, and he was stuck right next to the engine!

Oasha quickly called the Brevard County firefighters and they arrived quickly to see if they could extract the wayward cat.

Well, they did manage to get her out, and that should be the end of the story, right?

Wrong.

Suddenly, the frightened kitty bolted from the grasp of one of the firefighters, and sprinted off. Then he found a new hiding place…

In the wheel well of a Cocoa Police officer’s squad car!

Can you imagine if the cop started the car and tried to drive away? How horrifying!

But thankfully, everyone saw the cat run in there, so the firefighters embarked on yet another rescue mission.

And this time, after they plucked the skittish kitty free, they held on to him. That wasn’t the best news, though:

Oasha decided to keep the stray as a pet! She named him Mickey D and that’s the story of how Mickey D got his forever home.

Now he doesn’t have to find extremely dangerous hiding places anymore!

It all started when Annalise Burke and her mother spotted a stray cat wandering outside their home one night.

They didn’t worry about the stray at the time but in the morning, they decided to find the kitty and take her to the local Human Society.

But they didn’t find the cat … instead, they found two newborn kittens!

Sadly, one of the babies hadn’t survived but the other was clearly in distress, so they scooped her up and rushed her to the vet’s office, where the vet said she should recover.

They thought their adventure was over, but when they returned home, they heard faint meowing coming from underneath their shed out back…

Annalise and her mother started digging and amazingly, they found a third tiny kitten, barely clinging to life! As Annalise told The Dodo:

“She had been alone under the shed for at least eight hours.

We dug to get her out. Her face and mouth was covered in dirt, with dirt all inside her throat. She was coughing and wheezing.”

The mother-daughter duo knew the Humane Society was closed for the day, so there was only one thing to do:

They brought the tiny tyke inside and stayed up the entire night with her, cleaning her up and attempting to feed her.

That’s when they realized that in her eight hours under the shed, the confused and terrified kitten had done something awful:

She’d been so confused, that she’d been eating dirt and rocks to try and survive!

This of course made her even sicker so the next morning, the kitten – which they had named Gemma – was rushed to the vet.

The vet didn’t think poor Gemma would make it and suggested to put her down; her chances of survival were just so small.

But Annalise wasn’t about to let that happen! She even quit her summer job to care for Gemma.

“My mom let me decide because I would have to put my life on hold to care for her. I said I was going to try.

I didn’t know if she was going to live or die, and she scared us several times after that by stopping breathing … but she miraculously pulled through,” Burke said.

Yes, Gemma beat all the odds and started to recover.

She’s now 6 weeks old and getting stronger by the day! She’s eating wet cat food on her own and she loves cuddling with the rescuer that refused to give up on her!

Annalise finished by saying:

“Gemma truly had an extreme will to live, after everything.

It was worth putting my life on hold for her. She is truly an angel.”

How’s that for animal-loving dedication?

Whitney Braley’s service dog is usually friendly and easygoing but for some reason, she suddenly seemed awfully distraught.

Then Whitney realized Banner was trying to get her to follow her into the nearby forest.

In fact, the dog was so anxious for Whitney to follow that she actually kept tugging on her dress. It was a very clear “help me!” sign!

Well, Whitney couldn’t ignore that request, so she followed her beloved pup into the woods … and there she was met with an astonishing sight:

Sitting in the middle of a lightly wooded area was a cardboard box. And inside were 7 tiny newborn creatures, which were barely clinging to life.

Banner was acting like a mom! But she hadn’t found a box of puppies …

No, she’d found a box of kittens!

Not only was Banner trying to help them, she gently took one of them in her mouth as if to say, “I’ll take care of them, I swear!”

Whitney picked up the box and took the kittens home, with Banner hot on her heels.

Banner took on her new role of foster mom with vigor and care: she cleaned the kittens up and stayed by their side constantly.

Nothing bad was going to happen to those struggling kittens with Banner around!

Said Whitney:

“Someone must have just put [the kittens] into a cardboard box, closed the lid tight and left them there to die.

They probably thought that no one would ever discover them.

But I’m so happy that now because of Banner, these kittens will go on to live their lives with loving families. It warms my heart.”

Wonderful dogs like this just don’t get enough credit, do they?

It’s as if they’re angels on earth, and they just want to care for all living creatures!

Even the experts at the shelter couldn’t stop the poor little thing from crying and crying. And the kitten was in generally good health, too.

What was wrong? And how could they get the tiny tyke to settle down?

Well, maybe they just needed someone with a magic touch … and we all know that children have magic in their fingers!

Kelli Gross is an avid rescuer and foster mother who has taken in over 100 kittens, so she’s no stranger to felines in distress.

So when she heard about Ariel, she quickly drove to the shelter to pick her up. Another adorable kitten to save and foster!

She brought her 10-year-old son Zack with her, too … and it’s a good thing she did.

Because when Kelli and Zack arrived to pick up Ariel, they heard the frightened kitten crying. She was still distraught; nobody could get her to stop.

Then something amazing happened:

“…but when Zack picked her up, everything changed.

‘She was going crazy and wouldn’t settle down,” Kelli remembers.

Then Zack’s quiet voice and gentle touch convinced the little kitten that she was safe and everything was going to be alright.”

The 10-year-old boy’s magic touch was just the ticket. Ariel never made a sound after Zack picked her up, and stayed quiet the whole ride home. Said Kelli:

“He put a blanket down in his lap and bundled her up.

She was sound asleep and didn’t make a peep during the whole 30-minute car ride home.”

As it turns out, Zack’s connection with kittens extends beyond Ariel. He just seems to understand them, and they understand him.

“He has a routine of waking up and telling them good morning every day before school and then coming and kissing every single one goodnight before bed.

He makes sure that they all feel included.

He misses them when he’s away and they’re the first thing he says ‘Hi’ to when he gets home from anywhere.

He just makes it effortless and you can tell that it’s actually ingrained into his heart.”

Maybe this is all because innocence is drawn to innocence … innocent children have an innate connection to innocent animals.

At first, she was a little apprehensive. After all, not all strange animals are friendly, as postal workers well know!

But the poor little thing looked harmless, so the mail carrier crept a little closer…

And that’s when she realized it was a kitten!

Well, it didn’t look too bad and on top of which, the mailwoman had to continue working. But at the same time, she had to feel bad for the apparently abandoned creature.

Then she got an idea.

She whipped out her phone and sent posts about the kitten to various rescue groups on social media, hoping somebody might show up to help.

But the very next day, while walking her route, the same mail carrier noticed the black ball of fur again.

It was the same kitten and she didn’t appear to have budged an inch!

That’s when the postal worker decided something was wrong; the poor thing was obviously ailing and this time, she directly contacted Coastal Bend Cat Rescuers.

The team quickly arrived on the scene to scoop up the depressed kitten, which they decided to call Thor.

And very depressed she was, as foster coordinator Lindsay Haglund said:

The Good Samaritan, named Marti, followed the curious pup and she found three kittens in a bush, shivering and barely alive!

These poor creatures were “ice cold and stiff” and they clearly didn’t have long to live, so the odds were stacked against them!

Even though the tiny tykes still had their umbilical cords attached, the mother cat was nowhere in sight, and the kittens had zero protection and nutrition.

The Good Samaritan, named Marti, knew she might be in over her head.

But she couldn’t just stand by and watch the babies die!

So, she quickly contacted a neighbor, Nikki Martinez, who was both an animal rescuer and a foster mom, hoping she could help.

Unfortunately, Nickki was out of town at the time, but she was able to talk Marti through the process of caring for the three abandoned kittens:

Angel #1 had to warm them up and feed them as best she could, and she couldn’t let them out of her sight! At 24 hours old, it was touch and go for a long time…

Thankfully, she got through that first night; all three kittens were still alive and Marti decided to call them Pancake, Spud, and Bagel.

Then she handed them over to Nikki, who was an expert.

And the first two appeared to be doing all right but Bagel was struggling … she was the smallest of the three and she’d stopped eating. And that was NOT good news!

Said Nikki:

“She didn’t want to eat that much at her 2 AM feeding and my heart had a sinking feeling.”

The kitten could be dead in a matter of hours if she didn’t eat, just because she was so young and frail. But how could Nicky get her to start eating again…?

Well, a vet had once trained her in tube-feeding kittens, so that skill came in immensely handy!

Just in time, Bagel was finally getting the nutrition she so desperately needed.

“I had happy tears rolling down my cheeks (partially because I was deliriously tired).

Bagel gained the weight she lost, and she was eating without a feeding tube.

After seeing Bagel refuse eating for two days and having to be tube fed, listening to her gulp down her food is music to my ears.”

Yes, Nikki had managed to save Bagel (and her two siblings), but if it hadn’t been for Marti, none of them would have survived.

Marti was the one who found them, who said to herself, “no, I can’t let them die today!” She’s the first angel in the story and the one the tiny kittens should never forget!

Kudos to both Marti an Nikki for making the seemingly impossible … possible!

Well, someone had indeed “lost” something … but it wasn’t just a purse!

When the passerby approached the purse, it suddenly started to move and twist about; it was if it had a mind of its own.

Obviously, something was alive inside and desperately trying to get out!

The resident quickly knelt down and unzipped the bag, and out popped a furry friend who was very thankful that someone had rescued her.

It was a kitten!

The poor thing had been stuffed into a bag and left to suffocate, which is beyond evil. Thankfully, though, the Good Samaritan had arrived just in time.

The next step involved getting the abandoned kitty some help, which in this case was the RSPCA.

And one of the inspectors, Annie Simmonds, just couldn’t believe the story she’d heard. Who could’ve done such a thing?
