Even the simplest of daily activities can turn into a public spectacle for such a child.

That’s why anyone willing to help these parents and their embattled children is a godsend:

Franz Jakob is a gift from God for parents far and wide around his eclectic shop in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec.

He’s not afraid to sacrifice to help special children, and adults, who visit his barbershop.

Recently, photos of his willingness to get down and dirty to help a child with autism went viral…and there’s a very good reason why.

Fauve Lafrenière posted photos of Jakob lying on the ground of the barbershop while cutting the hair of her son, Wyatt, age 6.

Jakob and his skills have been a blessing for the mom and son for two years.

Jakob believes the “familiarity” of his shop with its old-school look helps those with difficulties outside their regular environments.

“My shop is completely vintage,” Jakob told TODAY of Authentischen Barbier, his shop in Quebec.

“All the walls are jammed with photos and stuff from around here.

“I think that has a positive effect on the kids. Each time I’m doing it there are no tears, no screams. We enjoy it together.

I think the atmosphere of the barbershop helps a lot.

“I really take my time doing it,” Jakob added. “I can take up to 90 minutes cutting hair for kids with special needs.”

Jakob, 45, is so very patient with a boy like Wyatt. When Wyatt wanders around the shop and lays down, Jakob follows and cuts his hair wherever Wyatt stops.

And Jakob’s gift to others doesn’t stop with children. He helps terminally ill customers as well.

“The first time was some guy who brought me one of his friends who was in his last hours, and he wanted a shave and a haircut,” said Jakob.

“It became very emotional, and I said I would do it again.

“I’m taking great pride doing this.

It’s really an honor. We listen to some Hank Williams, and we shave like in the old-school ways.”

Jakob’s barber career started at age 12. He moved from charging $5 for a trim during the lunch hour in high school to setting an example as a community leader.

“I have a line each morning out my door,” said Jakob. “People drive three or four hours.

I’m taking great pride in what I’m doing in my community.“

As well he should. We need more people like Jakob in this world, don’t we?

His care for others is a miracle for many.
