That age-old pearl of wisdom carries with it a ton of truth, and this awesome little clip drives that point home.

A family was out on a tour of a property on Goat Island in Australia, and they were having a nice leisurely trip until…well, they had a very close encounter!

The property is home to a number of crocodiles, and the owner would call out for a reptile named Casey to come and join the party.

Before you knew it, Casey emerged from the water and flopped on the ground.

Having a huge croc that close must be a little unnerving but it was even more annoying for the family’s pet, a little toy dog.

The little pup didn’t take too kindly to Casey’s presence, and it proceeded to go absolutely ballistic.

The croc was well-trained and of no harm to the guests, but the pup wasn’t taking any chances, so she rushed right in!

The dog’s owner couldn’t believe what she was doing, but she couldn’t stop it, either.

The brazen pup flew at the massive reptile, totally unafraid! If Casey had wanted to, he could’ve ended the poor dog’s life in a flash.

But Casey didn’t want any trouble with the little menace.

The croc sized up the situation and responded by hightailing it back into the water.

Looks like the croc made the right call, as this little pup simply wasn’t messing around!

The next time the family goes on vacation with their little friend, they can be sure of one thing:

No matter what they face, their furry little friend will protect them…no matter how big!

Consider pit bulls. The media reports every time a pittie does something bad, but never mentions the tens of thousands of them who are just big teddy bears.

Sometimes it’s true that animals that look big and mean certainly can be vicious. Few of us would consider walking up to a lion or a tiger and patting them on the head!

But there are exceptions to every rule, right?

Take, for instance, the story of Vali the brown bear who lives at the Budapest Zoo in Hungary. Vali has a lot of fans who love to come and watch her lumbering about.

Although she somewhat resembles the teddy bear a child might carry to bed with him, everyone knows she’s capable of tearing even the largest man to shreds in moments.

That’s why, when a young crow fell into Vali’s pool at the zoo, everyone watching was quite sure that the bird was a goner.

The bird fluttered about, squawking and trying to fly out of the plant-filled water.

But its wings had waterlogged almost immediately and it simply couldn’t lift its body weight.

It began to tire just as Vali noticed it, so she wandered on over.

The gathering crowd held its breath and wondered if, instead of a nice family day at the zoo they were going to get an up close and personal view of “When Animals Attack.”

Although everyone was rooting for the little bird to find its way to safety, they were also realistic enough to know what was likely about to happen.

It looked for all the world that the bear had herself a snack, and that was that.

So, as Vali approached, everyone in the crowd felt like turning away…it probably wasn’t going to be pretty.

Vali, the massive predator, reached down into the water and patted at the bird.

Of course, just one good swat from that big paw could end the bird’s life in a moment. But no, still it fluttered.

Finally, Vali reached in with her mouth and brought the bird out with the tip of a wing caught in her mouth.

The little bird was exhausted and soaked to the skin. But it wasn’t ready to die just yet!

In a final pique of defiance, it pecked Vali on the nose. Again, the crowd sucked in its breath.

Would that anger Vali enough to end the poor bird’s life?

Incredibly, no.

Instead of angering her, Vali seemed a bit perplexed. Perhaps she thought the bird was a new toy that had been placed there for her amusement.

And instead of pleasing her, it had hurt her tender nose.

So, she turned and wandered over to some fresh vegetables she hadn’t begun to snack on yet. The bird laid in the dirt, on its back, seemingly stunned.

Vali began munching the carrots and apples and other good veggies, while the bird just laid there.

Still, no one knew if it was even still alive.

Perhaps the big bear paw had done its damage and Vali would come back later to finish the job?

Oh, you just have to check out the video to see how it ended.

Hint: the crow was very perplexed about the whole situation, and so was the crowd!

The elderly couple then noticed its fur was black and white and decided to go outside to investigate. They didn’t get a chance to, though.

While still looking out their window, they took note of another animal close by, and it was closely watching the little creature by the fence. It was a crow.

Knowing there was no way they could get outside before the crow got to it they just kept watching, hoping that the crow didn’t scoop it up and fly away with its prey.

But it did swoop in; it grabbed the little animal that they could now see was a kitten…and it was still alive!

They were horrified for a moment and then something unbelievable happened: the crow sat the little cat on the ground and it sat up.

The bird stood beside the kitten and cawed as if it was warning other animals to leave the puny cat alone.

Then it started hunting for worms and unbelievably, turned around and fed the little kitten!

As the cat became stronger and began running around, the crow even cawed at it to keep it from running in the street. Talk about incredible!

The Callitos eventually coaxed the kitten inside with cat food and named her Cassie. But her friendship with her feathered friend didn’t end there.

Each morning, they let Cassie out to play with the crow. This is unbelievable, right?
