That’s a question animal lovers just can’t answer because it makes no sense. And yet, pet-napping is an unfortunately common occurrence around the world.

However, sometimes the thief in question learns the hard way that you should never remove a pet from its loving home!

That’s what happened when a stranger came up to the porch in Lincoln, Nebraska, on which 8-year-old Mo was happily resting.

The kitty belongs to Samuel Forest Evertson, and he’d just let Mo outside on a pleasant day for some fresh air. He never anticipated a problem.

And he certainly never expected a cat-napper to show up!

The stranger in question – a 17-year-old girl – did indeed attempt to steal Mo from off the porch, but she made two big mistakes:

Firstly, she didn’t count on Mo’s determination to stay with his owner. And second, she didn’t count on the security camera Evertson had had installed!

You can see the girl snag a scared Mo from off the porch and then run to a getaway car. But seconds later, Mo comes sprinting back … he must’ve really fought inside that car!

Said Evertson after the unfortunate event:

“He can be feisty. He’s pretty strong.

He is fine but definitely more timid [now]. He doesn’t like being held.“

It’s really too bad that such an incident should scar an innocent cat, but here’s hoping that in time, Mo will return to being the laid-back, loving cat he always was.

As for the cat-napper, the Lincoln police department caught the perpetrator and she is now being charged with larceny and trespassing.

Well, this is why you have those security cameras up. It’s not just for your own safety, but for the safety of your four-legged friends as well!

Sparta is loyal and loving, like many cats.

But one day his owner decided to test that loyalty by faking his death in front of his best friend, and well, it didn’t go as expected.

Sparta watches with only mild interest as the man clutches his chest as he fakes a dramatic death.

He’s really putting on a performance!

He falls to his knees still clutching his chest and groaning.

Then he falls to the floor and pretends to be dead.

Sparta comes over to investigate and sniffs his dad.

See? The loyal pet is worried, right?

He’s going to get very anxious or upset, right? That’s how concerned animals act, after all…

But no.

Sparta just wanders off to the side and just lays down!

He’s not going to help; he’s just going take a nap. Yep, sounds like a typical cat.

His owner, sounding like his feelings are little hurt at the lack of sympathy looks up and says, “REALLY DUDE?!”

Needless to say, Spartan’s reaction was hilarious, even if it did hurt his dad’s feelings a little.

But no worries, he made up for it later by giving him lots of snuggles, and he was forgiven.

As they say, cats will be cats!

Some bark or meow; others just jump right on top of us. “Time to get up! I want to eat and play!”

But Baloo, an achingly cute tortoiseshell kitten, who has since grown into a beautiful cat, has a very special way of waking up her owner, Ben.

Every morning, Ben wakes up to the quiet purr of Baloo, who has proudly placed yet another gift directly on her master’s chest…

Like most cats, Baloo is a big fan of hunting rodents and birds, but she’s not the biggest fan of killing them.

What’s more unsettling? Having a dead mouse or bird on your chest first thing in the morning, or a half-dead bird or mouse?

As Ben told Love Meow:

“I was getting woken up by a small rodent being dropped on my face and that solicits a certain reaction in the morning.

I’d shoot out of bed to try and catch the thing.”

This went on for two months. Ben would wake up to find a live gift on his chest, and then release the poor petrified creature.

The only problem was that each time he did it, he hurt Baloo’s feelings. She’d brought it just for him, after all!

“She always looked so confused and sad, which made me feel pretty bad. She was doing her part by bringing home the bacon so to speak.

Seeing the lifestyle I was living she probably thought I could do with a nice ‘healthy’ breakfast. Who knows?”

Really, she was just trying to do her part. She wanted to take care of Ben the same way he took care of her!

So one day, she decided she’d try a different tact…

A giant leaf! Maybe that gift would go over better…? Well, it did; Ben was happy enough with the leaf, and he praised Baloo for her valiant efforts.

That effectively stopped the string of “live” gifts and now Baloo continues to search for different presents to deliver each morning. Finished Ben:

“Just picturing her wondering [sic] around ‘oh that’s a nice leaf, he’ll love this one!’

‘No this one’s far too similar to the one he’s already got’. It’s just too cute.“

It is at that. Who doesn’t want a cat like this? So amazing!
