Living in a neighborhood where everyone knows your name has its advantages.

Sure, some people may stick their noses into your business too much every now and again, but that’s part of the neighborly charm.

For one retiree, he’s developed a walk through his neighborhood that has taken on a special allure of its own.

Harvey Dierf loves to walk, and he’s covered the same 1-mile route twice a day for the last 65 years. Yes, 65 years.

Dierf, 95, is a retired biology teacher and World War II veteran and he obviously has a lot of life left in him.

He’s walked enough miles over decades to give a Fit Bit fits!

Dierf said he doesn’t know what he’d do without his routine because he’s kind of an antsy soul. Also, is wife suffered a stroke a year ago, and is confined to a nursing home.

He believes hanging out with his Plymouth, Minnesota, neighbors is a great way to pass time.

But those twice-daily walks are wearing on Dierf after all these years…

Thankfully, his attentive neighbors noticed his less than peppy pace, and devised an option for him:

Neighbors along his path set out chairs at various points so he could sit, chat and rest along his route.

Talk about the sweetest gesture EVER!

Neighbors enjoy Dierf’s excursions because they say he’s fun to talk with and he’s a great inspiration.

“They say when they see Harvey go by twice a day, they figured they should get out and walk themselves,” Dierf told a television station.

“So maybe I’m having a good effect on some people.”

So why aren’t you getting your lethargic behind out of your chair and taking a neighborly walk already?

If you need more of a boost, watch Dierf here:

It isn’t a crime to dance in the street.

Not enough people do it these days, but 92-year-old Millie Seiver just felt the need to boogie on down the road, so she did exactly that.

When the mood struck her, the surprisingly spry Seiver started moving to the beat outside her apartment building last week.

That’s when a police officer rolled up and noticed the elderly woman dancing by herself, which must’ve been quite the sight.

Sergeant Kim Lenz of the Austin Police Department then decided to do something spontaneously amazing, resulting in the video that people just can’t stop watching.

Yes, Lenz rolled her squad car to a stop, turned up the volume of her radio, and went to join the 92-year-old who obviously needed a dancing partner.

Every now and then, cops contribute to the community in ways that have nothing to do with shooting bad guys.

And it’s not surprising at all to see so many inspirational videos online where police officers are center-stage, doing something of which everyone should be proud.

It’s not just about serving and protecting; it’s about being a role model and doing the right thing at the right time.

In the case of Sergeant Lenz, that just so happened to be busting a move with a cheerful senior citizen in a parking lot.

So be it. Everyone loves it and rightfully so.

Nobody likes to get old.

Your joints start to stiffen, you begin to lose that boundless vigor, your skin unfortunately loses its elasticity, and life in general just gets harder.

As such, some say there’s no such thing as “aging gracefully.” They say everyone goes through the terrible downturn and no matter what you do, you can’t look past the negatives.

But it isn’t true.

People are living longer and longer these days and no, not everyone over the age of 65 is a bitter old crank who can’t stand the idea of old age and vents this frustration on younger people.

There are wonderful shining examples of senior citizens living life to the fullest, and smiling the whole way.

You can find these examples everywhere online and every last one is hugely inspiring, and should make us all feel just a little better about the complicated aging process.

Case in point:

The following video totally blew up on Facebook and now, everyone is starting to think, “gee…maybe getting old ISN’T so bad.”

These two Boogie Woogie wonders tear up the dance floor and people just can’t stop applauding this vivacious display.

Dancers Nellia, 64, and Dietmar, 70, captivate the audience and the rest of the internet by proving one incontrovertible fact:

You’re only as young as you feel.

Thousands of comments have poured in since the video was posted and most are from younger individuals who say things like, “Even I can’t dance like that!”

This is the inspirational effect some incredible senior citizens can have, and that effect is best seen in the long string of reactions.

Here’s a screen grab of some of the more recent comments:

What’s not to like about this? How can you NOT smile when watching?

And at the end of the day, yes, we all have to get old. But such moments prove that we can not only age gracefully, but also with immense energy and happiness.

Not everyone will be able to pull off Nellia and Dietmar’s performance at their ages, but that’s okay. The important thing is to keep having fun!

And maybe someday you’ll produce a video that makes all the youngsters smile.
