Not long after a family moves into their new home, they hear a sound at the front door.

It’s quiet at first, then it grows…

It’s an insistent meowing!

They open the door to find a skinny, apparently confused kitty. She really wants to come inside for some reason, too.

Well, at first they just assume she’s a common stray, and she’s looking for food.

After all, she was very thin and malnourished, so the family decided to give her some help. They give her a little cat food and send her on her way.

But then, a few days later … the meowing is back.

That’s when the family starts to think there’s something special about the house they just moved into. The cat just never wants to leave.

And that’s when it hits them:

The poor stray must’ve been left behind by the previous owners! This was her house!

But without the owners, she was like a sad ghost patrolling the empty grounds.

Well, the family was just heartbroken, and they called the RSPCA in the hopes that they could find the cat a good home.

The RSPCA agreed to take her in; the staff called her Honey, and then ran a few tests to determine the kitty’s health.

Unfortunately, Honey was suffering from hyperthyroidism, which explains why she looked so skinny. But beyond that, she wasn’t too bad off.

However, they just can’t seem to find someone to adopt her. It has been 200 days, and no takers!

Said Heather Cain, chairman for the RSPCA’s Stourbridge and District shelter:

“Honey has been in foster care now for over 200 days and has watched all our other cats go off to their new homes and start their new lives…

…she wonders why no one wants her and is now starting to become stressed and bored which is beginning to affect her mental and physical well-being.”

Oh, come on!

She loses her family, thinks she gets a new one with another family moves in, and now sits for 200 days, waiting for love…?

That just seems wrong!

Somebody must want this adorable 8-year-old cat. She’s described as being “incredibly sweet” and she loves playing with toys and getting people’s attention.

Added Cain:

“Honey has blossomed into a loving girl and, despite being slightly older, she still enjoys a little play now and again and is young at heart.

She just needs a family who will love her.”

Honey deserves a happy ending, wouldn’t you say?

A mail carrier was on her route when she spotted a tiny bundle of fur on the sidewalk.

At first, she was a little apprehensive. After all, not all strange animals are friendly, as postal workers well know!

But the poor little thing looked harmless, so the mail carrier crept a little closer…

And that’s when she realized it was a kitten!

Well, it didn’t look too bad and on top of which, the mailwoman had to continue working. But at the same time, she had to feel bad for the apparently abandoned creature.

Then she got an idea.

She whipped out her phone and sent posts about the kitten to various rescue groups on social media, hoping somebody might show up to help.

But the very next day, while walking her route, the same mail carrier noticed the black ball of fur again.

It was the same kitten and she didn’t appear to have budged an inch!

That’s when the postal worker decided something was wrong; the poor thing was obviously ailing and this time, she directly contacted Coastal Bend Cat Rescuers.

The team quickly arrived on the scene to scoop up the depressed kitten, which they decided to call Thor.

And very depressed she was, as foster coordinator Lindsay Haglund said:

She was extremely dehydrated, anemic, flea-infested, weak, tired, covered with mange and appeared to be suffering from heat exhaustion.

One of our team members, Nadia, sent her husband Mike to the location and he scooped Thor up off the sidewalk with ease; she did not resist being rescued.”

Right now, she’s a mere 6 weeks old and doesn’t weigh what she should, but Mike and Nadia continue to give her the nutrients (and love!) she so desperately needs.

She’s also on antibiotics to cure a nasty infection she must’ve contracted while suffering alone on the street.

But Thor is definitely coming around and as Nadia says:

She always meows and greets her foster mom and dad when they enter the room. She begs to be pet and cuddled.”

Well, of course she does! She had such a very rough start to life.

But thanks to a Good Samaritan postal worker and the team at Coastal Bend Cat Rescuers, Thor’s future should be bright and happy!

When a Good Samaritan went out walking with her dogs, one of them got a whiff of something…

The Good Samaritan, named Marti, followed the curious pup and she found three kittens in a bush, shivering and barely alive!

These poor creatures were “ice cold and stiff” and they clearly didn’t have long to live, so the odds were stacked against them!

Even though the tiny tykes still had their umbilical cords attached, the mother cat was nowhere in sight, and the kittens had zero protection and nutrition.

The Good Samaritan, named Marti, knew she might be in over her head.

But she couldn’t just stand by and watch the babies die!

So, she quickly contacted a neighbor, Nikki Martinez, who was both an animal rescuer and a foster mom, hoping she could help.

Unfortunately, Nickki was out of town at the time, but she was able to talk Marti through the process of caring for the three abandoned kittens:

Angel #1 had to warm them up and feed them as best she could, and she couldn’t let them out of her sight! At 24 hours old, it was touch and go for a long time…

Thankfully, she got through that first night; all three kittens were still alive and Marti decided to call them Pancake, Spud, and Bagel.

Then she handed them over to Nikki, who was an expert.

And the first two appeared to be doing all right but Bagel was struggling … she was the smallest of the three and she’d stopped eating. And that was NOT good news!

Said Nikki:

“She didn’t want to eat that much at her 2 AM feeding and my heart had a sinking feeling.”

The kitten could be dead in a matter of hours if she didn’t eat, just because she was so young and frail. But how could Nicky get her to start eating again…?

Well, a vet had once trained her in tube-feeding kittens, so that skill came in immensely handy!

Just in time, Bagel was finally getting the nutrition she so desperately needed.

“I had happy tears rolling down my cheeks (partially because I was deliriously tired).

Bagel gained the weight she lost, and she was eating without a feeding tube.

After seeing Bagel refuse eating for two days and having to be tube fed, listening to her gulp down her food is music to my ears.”

Yes, Nikki had managed to save Bagel (and her two siblings), but if it hadn’t been for Marti, none of them would have survived.

Marti was the one who found them, who said to herself, “no, I can’t let them die today!” She’s the first angel in the story and the one the tiny kittens should never forget!

Kudos to both Marti an Nikki for making the seemingly impossible … possible!

When this poor kitty showed up at the shelter one day, the staff was just horrified.

Rescuer Meghan Sorbara had seen plenty of cats in terrible condition but this one was especially heartbreaking, because the adorable feline had one nightmarish sign:

Purple paws.

What did this mean?

Well, Meghan alluded to the situation in a Facebook post, saying:

“Being in animal rescue, you hear and read about a lot of terrible things being done to poor innocent animals and then one day, the victim of one of these terrible things shows up at your door.“

She added that even after dealing with “injured, emaciated, neglected, and abused animals,” “this one really got to me.”

And it’s because purple paws meant the poor cat was going to be used in illegal dog fighting!

This horrific “sport” involves two dogs being forced to battle, until one of them either runs off or is killed. It’s vicious and cruel and everyone involved should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

These “events” also cause smaller animals to suffer as well, as the dog owners will toss rabbits, rodents, and yes, even cats and kittens, into the ring to test the dogs’ “bloodlust.”

Sometimes, these animals are adopted at shelters, and that animal thinks he or she is off to lead a happy life.

But no, they descend straight into hell and it’s just an unimaginably terrifying situation.

That’s what this adorable cat had experienced, as Meghan understood: the purple paws is a “color-coding” the dog fight organizers use.

Worse yet, the cat may have been stolen from a happy home and forced into this life of despair and fear. However, he had managed to escape … but how?

“Somebody must have left a door open.

Or maybe he got away during transport while they’re going wherever they go to have these fights in the middle of the night, or when they are picking up a new litter of fighting puppies.”

Well, however it had happened, he’d escaped in the nick of time!

And after Meghan contacted the local authorities in the hopes they’d find the dog-fighting perpetrators, she focused entirely on Mr. Purple Paws.

Everyone at the NCA loved the friendly kitty, and Meghan says “he doesn’t have a care in the world; he’s Mr. Happy.”

And just one short week after arriving at the shelter, Mr. Purple Paws got a new adoptive dad! This time, he’d be sure to go to a loving home.

Dog fighting destroys so many lives, and other species are affected as well. No animal deserves to suffer this way, but at least kind-hearted souls can save a few…

Mr. Purple Paws definitely found his kind-hearted savior!

When Paris Zarcilla, a UK-based filmmaker, got up one morning, he didn’t know his life would change forever.

But animals have a way of surprising us, especially when we least expect to encounter a furry friend!

Paris had stepped into his room to snag a sweater, and that’s when he thought he heard a noise coming from under his bed.

He got down on all fours and peered beneath the bed, and he couldn’t believe his eyes:

So… I JUST FOUND A CAT THAT IS NOT MINE AND IT HAS HAD BABIES UNDER MY BED. pic.twitter.com/83ktBHGgT5

— Paris Zarcilla (@ParisZarcilla) May 30, 2018

There was a mamma cat and four newborn kittens!

But the incredible part is that Paris wasn’t a pet owner; the mamma was a stray and somehow, she had found her way into Paris’ home and given birth in a nice cozy spot.

The stunned filmmaker wasn’t sure how it happened but he immediately felt something he’d never experienced before:

A wave of parental responsibility.

Cancelling all my plans. Crawling under the bed to spend the rest of the day with my four new children. #newdad

— Paris Zarcilla (@ParisZarcilla) May 30, 2018

Paris shared his consternation and new emotions on Twitter, and this resulted in a series of adorable updates that are absolutely inspiring in every way.

This man knew exactly what he was going to do the instant he saw the little furry family, and it didn’t involve shelters or calling around to see if anyone wanted a cat and four kittens.

Nope, Paris instantly committed himself to becoming their caretaker, though he does intend to take the mamma cat to the vet to see if she has a microchip.

Cuteness update: I'm dying. pic.twitter.com/fJWUVnlNKh

— Paris Zarcilla (@ParisZarcilla) May 30, 2018

If she doesn’t, he’s perfectly willing to be the little family’s permanent protector. And you know, he doesn’t view it as a chore or a burden.

Rather, he sees it as the perfect opportunity to do something amazing for a four-legged friend and as he said on Twitter, “I am so ready to be a dad right now.”

This is what good people do when innocent creatures cross their path:

I feel like the veil of the universe is being lifted slightly. Like, I feel high. Is this what it feels like to have a child? I think I'm falling in love. Fuck. pic.twitter.com/0ObNMNt4vC

— Paris Zarcilla (@ParisZarcilla) May 30, 2018

They assume responsibility and make sure the animal is cared for.

So Paris Zarcilla gets three huge cheers for his efforts!

To my cat sons and daughters, I'll be the hero you deserve, but not the one it needs right now (because of mama cat). So I'll hunt for you, because I can afford it. I'll be your silent guardian, your watchful protector. Love, #CatDad pic.twitter.com/JkaUpGzXCP

Occasionally, when you’re at your lowest, a very special companion comes into your life.

Connor Manning had just broken up with his girlfriend and things weren’t going well. He was walking home that night, feeling depressed and unloved.

Suddenly, a cat came rushing out of the darkness, almost as if she knew him!

She didn’t know him, of course, but she certainly needed assistance. She was terribly thin and coated in fleas and grime; she was obviously a stray in need of a home.

Connor wasn’t really thinking about adopting a stray, though, so he just gave the curious animal a few pets and continued on his way.

But when he looked back … well, he just couldn’t leave her there.

“After about five minutes, I started getting up to head home, and she was super scared.

So I crouched down, and she ran right over to me again.”

This continued on for five blocks or so; Connor would pet the cat, give it some attention, then get up to leave. But the kitty just wouldn’t let him disappear for good.

So, Connor decided it’d be okay if the stray feline wanted to hang out with him at home. He still wasn’t considering adoption; he just wasn’t in the right frame of mind for that.

The two got a little closer, though, which is why Connor was surprised when he came home one day from a friend’s house.

The cat, whom he had affectionately named Socks, was gone!

She’d apparently run away, which didn’t help Connor’s depression given his breakup with his girlfriend. Someone else had left him and it was hard to handle.

But amazingly enough, in the early morning hours, he awakened to the sound of muffled meowing…

And there was Socks, staring at him through the window. She’d come back after all!

That did it. Connor decided he had to take care of Socks, so he took her to the vet’s for a quick exam (she was fine and she was indeed homeless) and prepared to own a pet.

There was just one big problem: Connor was severely allergic to cats. Even during the brief ride home from the vet’s, his throat was starting to close up.

At first, he didn’t think there was any way around it, and he arranged for a coworker to adopt Socks.

But Connor just couldn’t let go of his new friend that easily and after doing a bit of research, he found some medication that would tame his allergies, and this meant one thing:

Socks could stay with him!

And everything has worked out beautifully; Socks is exactly what Connor needed and he loved watching her transformation:

“Watching her go from a bone-thin lethargic baby covered in fleas into this little pounce machine has been so rewarding.“

See? Our furry friends are the perfect pick-me-ups!

When Robin Kilgore arrived at an animal shelter, she was only there to pick up a dog.

But the instant she parked and got out of her car, her day got infinitely more interesting…

As Robin closed the door to her car and turned around, she heard faint cries coming from nearby. She looked around and spotted a soaked cardboard box sitting outside the shelter.

It had been really pouring for some time, and the box was so wet it looked about ready to disintegrate.

And yet, there was definitely something alive inside … perhaps more than one scared little creature was stuck in there!

Robin quickly called The Paws Squad rescue group president, Selena Marcum, for help. And Robin was right about the box; as soon as Selena touched that box, it basically fell apart.

But neither woman was prepared for what they found inside:

A new mamma cat and not one, not two, not three, but four newborn kittens shivering in the cold, and obviously hungry and scared.

Both the mother cat and her babies were all drenched to the skin and as One By One Animal Advocates volunteer Teresa Atkins said:

“They were snuggling with momma trying to stay warm.

It was raining that morning and we have no idea how long they had been there.”

The kittens quickly got dried off by some anxious and loving hands, and the staff at One By One Animal Advocates in Huntington, West Virginia took it from there.

The first step was to find a foster home for the new feline family and thankfully, every member of that family was checked by a vet and deemed healthy.

The kittens were later named Cheddar, Velveeta, and Panda, and the mom earned the adorable name of Gypsie.

To this day, Selena Marcum is very thankful for Robin Kilgore’s quick thinking:

“We’re very lucky that Robin happened to find them when she did.

I truly think they would’ve drowned in that box.”

Unfortunately, it isn’t uncommon for people to abandon animals at a shelter’s front door, but nobody should do so in a rainstorm, especially with four tiny newborn kittens!

Please, try to be responsible for the sake of our furry friends.

Have you ever been so cold or so terrified that you were shaking?

You could hear your teeth chattering. You could see your hands trembling. But you just couldn’t stop.

Fear is a terrible thing but when combined with physical discomfort, everything else seems a hundred times worse. Being cold and terrified can be paralyzing.

Getting chilled to the bone, especially when you’re in a frightening situation, can take a terrible toll on any body, human or animal.

For one little Indonesian kitten, being trapped in a cold, wet gutter for days almost cost her her life.

When she was pulled to safety, scarred and bleeding and trembling with fear, pain and cold, her rescuers weren’t sure her life could be saved…

But, the kitten they named Kucil surprised them all with her inner strength. The family that took her in gave her ’round-the-clock attention, which helped calm her fears.

She had a fresh wound on one foot, which they put medicine on after getting her cleaned up.

They were afraid to stress her any more than she already was by searching for other problems.

So they fixed what they could see and then wrapped her in warm blankets to try to raise her body temperature.

She was dangerously chilled from exposure; her entire body quivered no matter what her rescuers tried to get her warm, unafraid and pain-free.

Kucil was so weak that her foster family had to accept the fact that she very likely would not make it.

That was when they decided to do everything they could to give her a chance. And Kucil would have to do the rest.

For over a week, Kucil stayed wrapped in her blanket, shivering and barely able to move.

But one day she ventured out from the warmth of her wrapping, and her family noticed she had stopped shivering!

A short week later, Kucil was a different kitten. She was trying to play a bit and was actually eating more than anyone in her new feline family.

Her human family was overjoyed! Kucil finally had a chance at not only living but in a very much better life than she had ever known.

Kucil has gotten very attached to one her new big kitty-sisters, too.

After a brief spat at their first meeting, she is now showing Kucil the ropes and how to be a cat.

Since little Kucil obviously was separated from her mother at far too young an age, the older cat is filling the void left by the absent mom, and it’s so heartwarming to see!

The two of them have formed an incredible bond in such a short time and they are absolutely inseparable.

Kucil seems to have put her terrible past out of her mind as well; she is friendly to everyone she meets and appears to be totally enjoying her new life.

Thanks to the wonderful people who found her, took her in and have gone to great lengths to make sure that the rest of her life is spent in happiness.

No more fear, cold and stress for Miss Kucil!
