When 5 Pounds Of Twisted, Matted Hair Disappears, A Truly Exquisite Cat Emerges

Never judge a book by its cover.

Underneath a misleading exterior may be someone or something you never expected…

Or, in the case of Sinbad the cat, beneath a disgusting exterior may lie a beautiful best friend for life!

A maintenance man called to fix a utility problem in a Chicago, Illinois basement for an elderly man was startled when a big pile of rags in the dark room suddenly moved.

Upon closer examination, he found it was actually a poor cat, entangled in a mass of dirty, matted hair that he had obviously been dragging about for some time.

The cat was so weak from pulling his filthy load that he could barely move. It was just a heartbreaking sight.

The maintenance worker knew that the owner had some mental issues and was apparently unable to care for his pet, so he quickly contacted the Anti-Cruelty Society of Chicago.

Luckily, the owner agreed that he was unable to care for the cat any longer and he turned over possession to the Society.

They breathed a sigh of relief. Getting a pet away from an abusive or neglecting owner can sometimes require involvement from the courts, after all.

They took Sinbad back to the shelter where staff shaved away over five pounds of nasty, dusty, filthy matted hair.

What had looked like a giant cat was now scrawny, shivering and pitiful.

Sinbad didn’t care what he looked like, though. All he cared about was that he had been freed from his dirty fur prison!

Then he began to show his affection for his saviors.

They were stunned that an animal that had been in solitary confinement for so long, neglected and in pain and discomfort, could so quickly transform into a loving, happy cat.

It took awhile for Sinbad to gain back the body weight he’d lost, and even longer to get back the muscle strength, but before long he was on the “adoptable” list at the shelter.

Happily, it didn’t take long for a man named Eliot to make the decision to take Sinbad home with him.

He took excellent care of Sinbad and soon had a beautiful cat with long flowing hair.

But, best of all, he had a best friend who loved to cuddle and snuggle and be petted.

Aren’t these two just perfect for each other?

Eliot assures Sinbad that he can put his past behind him.

There’s nothing but bright sunny skies ahead…and lots of brushings to be sure he never gets even a tangle in his hair again!
