Filthy Matted Hair Caked His Poor Ears Shut, But After Shaving, His Beauty Explodes

We are often told that “looks aren’t everything.”

But then we’re inundated with magazines portraying photos of what is considered “beauty.”

And it still makes a difference in our self-esteem even knowing that most of the photos are retouched, and normal people don’t look like models.

Dogs aren’t any different. A dog that has been living on the streets is aware that he doesn’t look his best.

Not only do mats and tangles hurt their body, but it hurts their psyches too.

It also hurts their chances of being adopted if no one gets them cleaned up before they are offered to potential new homes.

Just ask Beans. He’s a senior dog that got a second chance at life thanks to Muttville Senior Dog Rescue.

Beans was picked up on the streets in a horrible condition. His hair was matted and filthy.

He had been so uncomfortable that he had literally chewed through the mats and into his skin trying to get relief.

Beans had chewed and scratched his rear end until it was raw,” the group wrote in a video uploaded to YouTube with the caption:

Anybody there under all that hair?

It required a groomer with a big heart and a definite love for animals to take on THAT kind of a challenge. But…challenge accepted!

First to the grooming table to cut off as much of the matted hair as possible.

The group believed that Beans had not been groomed for a long time, or might never have been groomed before.

It was absolutely shocking to see that a chunk of his matted fur had “grown bigger than his paw.

Definitely not a job for the faint of heart!

Just cleaning up his ears was enough to break a groomer’s heart.

How terrible that poor Beans had to suffer this ordeal!

Besides having some vision issues, the lonely pooch hadn’t been able to hear very well because of all the hair that caked together…

It was quite literally plugging his ears shut.

Once that hair was cut and plucked out, however, Beans was once again to hear.

This time, hopefully, the sound of loving voices was a balm to his soul.

Once the icky hair and mats were removed, it was off to the bathtub.

Spa time!

Finally, there he was in all his glory. All fluffed up and ready to find a new life. Bring it on!

Thanks so much to the wonderful people at Muttville who took the time to uncover the adorable little dog hiding beneath all those mats and filthy tangles.

And best wishes Beans on finding the best home EVER!
