Kitty Trapped Under House As Floodwaters Rise – Dad Grabs A Hammer And Jumps Into Action

Animal lovers Vannah Vercetti and her husband would do anything to ensure their cute kitty, Blanca, is safe. But when heavy rain and widespread flooding hit South Texas, Vannah and her husband started to get worried…
They were obviously concerned about property damage, but they were most worried about their precious kitten!
Blanca decided she’d ride out the storm hiding beneath the family home, which turned out to be a very bad idea. Vannah and her husband hadn’t seen Blanca for a while an then they suddenly started to hear meowing coming from beneath the bedroom floor!
The couple was panicking; what could they do?
“I went outside in the rain to try to get her out but failed. Thinking I was going to lose my cat to drowning, I went sobbing inside feeling hopeless.
I could hear Blanca’s devastating cries. It was unbearable.“
But her husband wasn’t about to give up! The storm was raging and the floodwaters were rising quickly, but he knew that he couldn’t just abandon their pet.
He snatched a hammer and began slamming away at the bedroom floor. He aimed right at the spot where he heard Blanca’s cries for help and hoped. Unbelievably enough, with just seconds before the waters rose and drowned poor Blanca, Vannah’s husband broke through!
He quickly pulled the cat through the hole and out of danger of the rising waters.
Thankfully, Blanca was fine, but she had obviously been terrified.
And now she clings to her owner a little more, as Vannah said:
“Now, she follows me around more and meows at me more. I think it’s because she knows we saved her. She knows that we love her.“
While there was some property damage, the Vercettis are happy they were able to save the one thing that really mattered!
“A hole in the floor is much better than a hole in my heart,” she said. “I love my cats dearly.”
This amazing rescue story is such a good example of responsible pet ownership. Seeing pets left behind during storms breaks my heart!
