Mom’s Dog Keeps Barking At The Porch Door. When She Sees Why, She Desperately Dials 911
It was a warm night in August in Tallahassee, Florida.
James Parsons and his wife, Theresa, had gone to bed early, and their 3-year-old chihuahua-dachshund breed, Chewbarka, was acting normally.
But not long after they’d fallen asleep, the little chihuahua started barking…
For some reason, he just wouldn’t stop.
As her husband is disabled, Theresa finally decided to get out of bed to check.
She figured Chewbarka was just barking at a possum on the porch, which he frequently does at night.
But when Theresa found the cause of the pet’s distress, she immediately raced to save her family.
That’s because the loyal family pet had been trying to warn them from the start:
The house was on fire!
As Theresa told the Tallahassee Democrat:
“It was a wall of flames—it was going to engulf us. We got out just in time.“
Theresa, her husband, and her son Brian did indeed escape with their lives, and so did Chewbarka.
Sadly, however, their 1,200-square-foot mobile home was completely destroyed in the blaze; Theresa could only find her wedding band and a few photo albums.
And as James Parsons has spinal issues and Brian is autistic, it was a very difficult time. Added Theresa:
“Our son just had a meltdown. In the autism spectrum world… it’s hard to explain to him, so he doesn’t understand.”
In the end, though, all three are alive and their faithful dog saved the day. Possessions mean nothing compared to the well-being of loved ones!
And of course, everyone involved is thankful that Chewbarka is a big part of the family:
“I’m grateful to be alive. Grateful that God used this dog to bark.
“Everything happens for a reason but we don’t know what the outcomes are going to be … but we stand firm in our faith.“
There’s no way to explain everything, that’s for sure.
It’s clear that the Parsons family was meant to survive that night, and little Chewbarka was the instrument of their survival.
Companions, friends, and sometimes…saviors. 🙂
What an amazing story — dogs are so good to us!
