We can see a thousand videos on YouTube of dogs and cats interacting happily.
In fact, dogs have been known to get along surprisingly well with numerous species.
But when it comes to the harshness of the wild, all bets are off…even man’s best friend is no match for the harsh reality of Mother Nature, right?
Canada resident Brian Ladoon knows that fact all too well. He lives with 150 sled dogs on a sprawling property along the shores of the Hudson Bay area.
It’s remote and private and as he says, the perfect place for keeping Eskimo dogs. The only real threats his dogs face are hungry polar bears.
This could be the end of the road for several of his sled dogs, and he couldn’t bear to watch.
He watched from a safe distance as the bear shredded the sturdy plastic of the crates, designed to withstand a plane crash. They were no match for a polar bear’s teeth!
He just kept hoping the hungry bear would wander away when it realized there was no food inside.
But Ladoon’s body tensed as the bear seemed to get more and more destructive…
Then Brian’s heart leaped up into his throat when the bear suddenly stopped and turned around.
And he looked directly towards the place where his faithful pack of dogs was hidden behind some brush.
It stopped, sniffed the ground, then raised its head and sniffed the air. The hunt was ON!
Of course, as soon as it neared the dogs, they went berserk. Strangely, the barking seemed to just intrigue the bear; it stopped for a moment and just looked at the dogs.
Then, it went into action.
