The Firefighter Raced Outside With The Dying Cat, And Quickly Grabbed An Oxygen Mask

By
Firefighters are often under-appreciated.
A ginger cat named Sammy knows this better than any animal on earth right now, as he’s alive thanks to brave firefighters in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Sammy is trapped in a blaze with no means of escape, and it looks like curtains for the desperate feline.
By the time firefighters arrived on the scene, the home is entirely engulfed in flames. They don’t think anything will be found alive inside…
But they’re wrong. When one firefighter finds Sammy inside the wall of fire, he’s shocked to realize the cat is still breathing!
However, Sammy is unconscious and slipping away, so this firefighter has to act fast…
He races outside, the dying kitty in his arms, and quickly kneels. He releases the unconscious pet and grabs an oxygen mask.
Thanks to some recently released – and totally incredible – body-cam footage, we can see the entire amazing episode unfold!
Firemen surround Sammy, give him oxygen to get him conscious again, and also offer water that helps clear the cat’s airways.
At one point, the fireman who rescued Sammy even has to gently compress the cat’s chest; kitty CPR that really worked!
All in all, 15 apartments were destroyed in the blaze. Sammy’s owner, Stan Loemers, lost everything…well, not everything. As he told DailyMail:
“The animal means the world to me.“
When all is said and done, this is what matters. Objects can be replaced but beloved pets are like family; they can never be truly replaced.
And thanks to one brave, quick-thinking firefighter, Sammy is very much alive.
Don’t these firefighters deserve everyone’s respect? And maybe an ice cold beer for their efforts? 😉
