Sneaky Possum Tricks Grandma Into Thinking He’s A Stray Cat

When Eric stopped by to visit his grandmother, he expected to find cats.
After all, he knew grandma loved cats and she frequently took in strays who needed warmth, food and love.
So when he arrived and saw three cats, he wasn’t surprised at all. There they were, happy as could be, snuggled up in their new home.
But then Eric got a little closer and realized that in fact, there was an imposter among them!
There, sitting all cozy in a cat bed, was a wild opossum. Grandma had even named it Tete.
And Tete looked right at home, too, as if she belonged in the house. Eric was stunned…how had his grandmother missed it? Perhaps her vision wasn’t so good.
So, he gently broke it to his dear old grandma:
“She reassured me it was one of her cats,” Eric told The Dodo. “I told her it wasn’t what she thought it was.“
At first, the grandmother was confused and her grandson just couldn’t control his mirth.
“I laughed for a good five minutes,” Eric said.
“She didn’t realize what I was laughing about until I started pointing out the pointy nose and skinny tail. She didn’t realize he wasn’t a cat.“
He figured the instant his grandmother found out, she’d be shocked and a little horrified, and she’d toss the wild animal back outside.
But to Eric’s surprise, that wasn’t grandma’s reaction at all. No, in fact, she wasn’t about to change her mind!
“She kinda just sat there,” Eric recalled.
“Then she got a little closer … and slowly looked up at me with the biggest grin on her face and said, ‘Well, he hasn’t bothered me yet, so I’m OK with him being here!‘”
Well, it seems the opossum has indeed found a good home…even if she didn’t necessarily need one.
The funniest part is that the cats have totally accepted Tete and everyone gets along swimmingly. Nobody knows how Tete got hooked up with the tabbies but hey, it all worked out.
As it turns out, Grandma’s warmth isn’t just restricted to domesticated animals.
“She loves animals and taking care of them whenever she can,” Eric said.
“It kind of just motivates you to do better and treat other beings better too.“
Let’s just hope that next time, she doesn’t welcome in a wild animal that isn’t quite so docile and friendly! 😉
