Homeless Dog Looks Drop-Dead Gorgeous After Getting 35 Pounds Of Hair Shaved Off

This poor dog had been living in a filthy, garbage-filled barn for six years.

His hair was severely matted where he hadn’t been cared for, and he was miserable. His skin hurt where the mats were pulling, and he had sores on his body.

Thankfully, he was rescued from the poop-filled barn and taken to Big Fluffy Dog Rescue.

They work with large dogs to get them healthy and find them loving homes; this is what he looked like when he was brought in:

So, with little time to spare, the rescuers went right to work on the dog that they named Lazurus.

He seemed to know that they were trying to help him, so he held still and let them shave off the horribly matted fur.

They shaved and shaved and shaved, until they had taken off 35 pounds of fur from the poor dog! That’s a lot of extra weight on a dog, even a large dog.

And amazingly, here’s the “after” picture. Turns out, Lazarus is a Great Pyrenees! Who knew?

It didn’t take long for the real Lazarus to shine through…

Lazarus is so happy now and rightfully so.

Now he looks like a real dog, and a cheerful and well-cared for one at that!
