Poor Libby Was Chained Up And Left To Die. Then Frantic Rescuers Peek Under Her Tree And…

Animal rescuers see all sorts of awful things.

Sadly, there are countless evil humans out there who continue to do abominable things to innocent pets.

But sometimes, an animal just refuses to lie down and die; he or she struggles and fights and if rescuers can get there on time…well, there’s a happy ending.

That’s precisely what happened to Libby, a beautiful dog who should never have gone through such a traumatic experience.

The team at St. Landry Parish Animal Control and Rescue got a call about a poor dog lashed to a tree with a heavy chain, and it looked like she was in serious distress.

So, the rescuers ran out the door and headed to the location, hoping they’d reach the ailing pooch in time.

When they arrived on the scene, they found that Libby was still alive but she could barely move, as the painful chain heavily restricted her movement.

Furthermore, she was covered in bugs and filth and it was clear that she was alone, starving, and very, very scared.

But there was something else…

Rescuers noticed Libby was desperately trying to tend to something near the base of the tree. And when they got close, their hearts absolutely shattered.

There were a bunch of newborn puppies!

Tragically, one of them was already drowning in blood and she didn’t make it, while the others were just struggling to breathe.

Libby had done everything she could; she tried to clean and protect her children despite the heavy chain and horrid conditions. And it’s a good thing she fought, too.

Because when rescuers rushed her to the vet, doctors were able to save the rest of the puppies, and Libby even had four more when she was in the vet’s office!

The result?

Libby was saved and she ended up with a glorious litter of 12 adorable pups, and all of them are healthy and happy.

Mamma had to get an IV due to her low body weight but otherwise, she should be fine as well.

As of now, they haven’t found the horrid individual(s) who tied a pregnant and terrified Libby to that tree, but police are searching for the perpetrators.

And if they’re found, here’s hoping swift justice follows!
