Rescuers Approach Nervous Stray, Notice What She’s Standing On, And Freeze

Even though rescuers always want to help stray animals, the homeless animals in question aren’t always easy to catch.

Sometimes the dogs in need are simply terrified and distrustful of humans, so it’s tough for rescuers to get close.

But then there the countless unforeseen challenges, such as the one rescue organization Hope for Paws founder Eldad Hagar recently faced.

He got a call about an abandoned pitbull; her name was Bunny and she’d recently been abandoned by her heartless owners.

Bunny was spotted wandering around a deserted lot in Los Angeles and she obviously needed assistance. One problem is that she was a long way from civilization.

At that moment, however, Eldad and his team noticed something troublesome:

Bunny wasn’t just roaming a deserted area…she was on restricted government property!

This meant the rescue team couldn’t just climb over the chainlink fence that separated them from the frightened stray; they had to improvise.

In short, they had to get HER to come to THEM. Not easy, given her clear fear of humans!

The best option seemed a lure of some kind, so they started with a cheeseburger. It worked but the instant Bunny ate the burger, she retreated to the other side of the fence.

They needed a different plan. This time, they opted for a large cage, in which they put even more food. If only Bunny would take the bait one more time…

Well, she was very hungry so she couldn’t resist. She did indeed step into the cage and start chowing down, and that’s when the rescuers knew they had her!

She wasn’t too happy about the situation, of course, but the team did everything they could to convince Bunny she wasn’t in any danger.

Finally, they got Bunny back to the shelter, where she carefully and hesitantly explored her new temporary home.

Some pitbulls can get aggressive when faced with new and scary environments, but not Bunny! No, she’s doing just fine at the shelter.

Now all she needs is some loving human to give her a forever home, and her tale of abandonment will be history.

Let’s hope this happens very soon!
