Rescuers Spot Bloody Stray With ‘Ring’ Around Its Neck And Only Seconds Left To Live

Animals can survive some amazingly horrifying situations.

Do an online search for “animal survival stories” and you’ll come back with hundreds of tales that will leave you in shock and awe.

Stories of dogs surviving bear attacks, tales of cats surviving wildfires that scorch everything else in its path, etc.

Sometimes it’s just being in the wrong place at the wrong time that gets an animal in trouble.

Sometimes, it proves the old adage, “curiosity killed the cat.”

Certainly, curiosity almost killed this dog found roaming the streets of Tulsa, OK with what looked like a piece of ductwork tubing stuck around his neck.

Rescuers wondered if the dog had perhaps stuck his head in a hole somewhere looking for food, got stuck, then managed to pull his head out, but with part of a duct system intact.

Whatever happened, it had happened some time ago. By the time the dog was found and brought to a shelter, the piece of duct had cut deeply into the dog’s neck at both ends.

All the hair was worn off beneath the metal, and it had gotten so tight that the dog could barely breathe or swallow.

There was no doubt that death was imminent if something wasn’t done. And fast.

So, veterinarians carefully cut away the metal from the dog’s neck; they repaired the gashes left behind and gave him medication to keep the wounds from becoming infected.

The dog was so weak by that point that they were unsure as to whether he would be able to survive. But, they did all they could to at least give him a fighting chance.

They continue to marvel that the animal survived not only the tubing, but the frigid temperatures.

Considering his emaciated state and his wounds and the fact that he survived at all, they gave him the name “Marvel.”

Isn’t that appropriate?

What better name for an animal who simply refused to crumble and give up, who simply struggled forward, regardless of the situation?

Marvel’s will to live is just incredible, that’s for sure.

And volunteers are doing everything possible to make sure that he recovers and can be adopted by a lucky family.

Best of luck, Marvelous Marvel!

Keep fighting the good fight. You have better days ahead, we are sure of it.
