Senior Pup Dumped On The Street With A Note – Rescuers Read It And Choke Back A Sob

It’s always sad to find an abandoned animal.

It’s even sadder when that animal is an elderly pup, and she’s left on the side of a road with a leash and a note … a note that’s absolutely heartbreaking.

The Royal Animal Refuge, a no-kill facility for homeless animals, got a call about this senior dog, and quickly rushed to help.

When they arrived, the found the pooch was in surprisingly good spirits, though it was obvious she was without an owner. And she had no food or water, either.

But it was the note that really threw the rescuers for a loop!

They learned the adorable dog’s name was Reese, and she was 13 years old. But more importantly, they found out the reason why poor Reese had been ditched:

The owner simply couldn’t care for her anymore.

The Refuge posted the note and the story, but asked that people not rush to judgment:

It’s always so sad when these types of situations happen, not only for the animal, but also for the family that felt they had no other option.

With that being said, we think it is important that we share each animals story but we ask that everyone focus on the positives.

Reese needed medical attention immediately, so it was a good thing the rescuers got to her when they did!

She had excessive tartar buildup and gingivitis, and she also suffered from “mammary masses in both chains, which most likely means she had been used for breeding.”

The other problem is that all the loud barking in the kennel made Reese very nervous, so the team had to find a foster home for her ASAP.

Luckily, a foster parent stepped up quick; ironically, this parent had just lost her last furry friend, and was in need of another companion.

And Reese was a perfect fit!

She’d gone from being lost, confused, and terrified after her previous owner dropped her, to having a wonderful loving home in just a matter of days!

But in the end, the note is very sad … there are always alternatives to simply ditching an animal you can no longer care for.

Please make the right decision if you find yourself in such a situation!
