Chrissy Joy loves her obedient pup, Beasley.

But she never expected that Beasley had hidden talents … and they didn’t involve the normal tricks, like sitting, speaking, rolling over, etc.

No, this brilliant pooch’s talents lie in another area:

Babysitting!

While some owners can train their dogs to do any number of things, Chrissy Joy realized quickly that Beasley took to everyday household chores.

And especially those that benefit Chrissy’s new baby, Elowen.

Amazingly enough, Beasley – with only minimal instruction – is able to handle plenty of necessary babysitting duties.

The pup-turned-nanny can rock Elowen’s cradle, fetch necessities for Elowen, deposit dirty diapers in the bin, snag stuff out of the fridge, and even tuck tiny Elowen into bed!

What can’t Beasley do?

Well, take him outside and Beasley becomes a babysitter/playmate, as he gently pushes baby Elowen on the swings.

And every now and then, just to show his affection for his favorite undersize human, he’ll lick Elowen’s face as if to say, “I’m here for you!”

Chrissy Joy, a professional dog trainer, will tell you that not all dogs can do this, even smart ones.

Heck, I bet she was shocked Beasley’s hidden talents were centered on helping a mom get through her busy day!

Pet lovers know animals have a sixth sense.

They can tell when their owners aren’t feeling well and many times, the beloved pets will make an attempt to cheer up their fallen owners.

Take adorable Dobby, for instance. This loyal little pup knows exactly what to do when her owners are ailing, and it’s all because she’s a very smart pooch who learned from her own experience.

When Dobby first joined the family as a puppy three years ago, everyone loved her. And for good reason; she was such a likable and friendly dog.

But when they took her to the vet for a simple examination, they were devastated to learn poor Dobby had Parvo.

It’s a very contagious and aggressive virus that is unfortunately common in dogs that come from puppy mills and pet stores. But the family wasn’t about to give up on Dobby.

It was going to be a tough road, though, as Dobby’s mom, Shani Coppa, said:

“It was very scary as she was so little, barely 6 pounds.

The vet said she had a small chance to survive if she stayed in the hospital, and honestly, she advised we take her home and spend as much time with her as we could — that she actually had a better chance with love at home than in a kennel at the vet’s.”

Dobby’s parents were determined to save their new family member, so they brought her home and gave her a separate room away from the other dogs, so they wouldn’t catch the virus.

They did one other thing for her, too: they gave her a special toy to keep her company in her little quarantine room.

It was a stuffed pink bunny and Dobby just loved it. She started to carry it wherever she went and as Shani added:

“She demanded it be in her special blanket, and when she could be induced to eat, it came to the bowl with her, it was adorable.“

Dobby eventually made a fully recovery but she never forgot her stuffed friend. Then one day, Shani fell ill and it was clear that Dobby was worried…

Well, she knew what to do, didn’t she?

She immediately ran out of the room and returned with her prize item, the pink bunny that had comforted her during her sickness! Said Shani:

“After a particularly bad bout of migraine nausea, she brought Bunny up on the couch with me.

It’s the bunny we bought her when she was sick, so clearly it has feel-better medicine in it.”

Now, whenever someone in the family isn’t feeling quite right, Dobby is quick to grab her best friend and deliver it to her loving owners.

It really might be the most adorable get-well gift anyone has ever received.

Many of us have seen a devoted dog leading the way for his blind human companion.

Some dogs are bred solely for their ability to help a disabled human get through life.

But there are times when disabled animals help each other…even when they’re not of the same species!

Here’s one of the oddest and most heartwarming cases we’ve ever seen:

It began when Judy Godfrey-Brown of Holyhead, North Wales brought a cat home to join her growing farm family.

Judy owned several cats, along with a 14-year-old blind and mostly deaf Labrador Retriever named Terfel.

He had managed to get through life pretty well with only partial hearing. His hearing loss had been apparent since he was a puppy but then, the situation got worse.

One day, vets noticed that Terfel was beginning to get cataracts in his eyes, and it wasn’t long before those beautiful eyes had clouded over into milky white.

Every day that passed took more of Terfel’s vision away.

Soon he was bumping into things when he tried to walk about in the house, and walking outside was terrifying for him.

So, Terfel had taken to just spending his days snoozing in his bed. He didn’t want to walk outdoors any more, even with Judy. The poor guy was literally sleeping his life away.

Then Judy brought home Pudditat and everything changed on the farm…

First of all, the other cats didn’t like him at all. They found him overbearing and rude and they shunned him.

“He’s not very nice to the other cats,” Judy told NatGeo. “He will bully the other cats a bit into submission.”

He liked life on his own. He didn’t need anybody…well, so long as Judy put enough food down every day.

Then, one day Pudditat came into the house and he met Terfel. And amazingly, he seemed to realize that Terfel needed help that his human couldn’t give him.

Pudditat “prefers Terfel to any of the other cats,” Judy said. “I think he must have known Terfel was blind because he sort of bonded with him straight away.”

Judy added, “I’ve never seen anything like it—most cats and dogs hate each other.”

From that day on, the two were inseparable. At first, they just slept together a lot.

They hung out on the couch, or on Terfel’s bed, or in a spot of sunshine on the rug. It didn’t matter, so long as they were together.

Judy even took them on rides together. Terfel enjoyed that a little more than Pudditat did, but wherever Terfel went, so there they went!

Little by little, Pudditat got Terfel up and about. First, around the house.

He walked just in front of Terfel so he didn’t bump into things. They ate together, they slept together, and now they roamed about together.

One of the happiest days of Judy’s life was one day when Terfel followed Pudditat out of the house and onto the grounds of the farm.

It was his first trip outside since he’d gone totally blind.

With Pudditat nearby to alert him to dangers, Terfel relaxed and enjoyed the sunshine and breezes.

They go outside pretty often now, but they still enjoy just cuddling on the couch. Usually, Pudditat takes the opportunity to keep him well groomed.

And Terfel doesn’t seem to mind whatever Puddytat does. So long as he doesn’t leave!

Having a friend like Pudditat has turned a dark and dreary existence for Terfel into a happy and bright life. Pretty incredible, right?

But, we may not realize that the tough stuff we’re going through creates changes in our animal’s lives.

For instance, we may not be exercising as much as we used to, and our dogs miss going for walks with us.

In a thousand different ways, our dogs pick up on our emotions and small changes to our personalities that we may not even realize we’re exhibiting.

When a young man named Byron sunk into a deep depression after his relationship fell apart, he didn’t realize how much it would affect his dog.

He tried to work through the sadness and grief but eventually, he hit rock-bottom and started to contemplate committing suicide.

Through it all, his pit bull was there at his side, anxiously hoping his master would recover.

Byron continued to care for him in a perfunctory manner but he was sadly still immersed in his depression.

One day, after a long bout of drinking, Byron decided that life just wasn’t worth living.

He knotted a thick rope into a hangman’s noose and decided it was time to end it all.

He left the rope upstairs and went downstairs to write a goodbye letter to his family. This was it; it was all over.

Byron fully expected to never see them – or his loving pet – again.

But when he went back upstairs, he was dismayed to find that his dog Geo, a very large Welsh Bull Mastiff, had the knotted rope in his mouth.

He demanded that Geo give the rope to him. But for the first time in the gentle giant’s life, a rumbling growl was the answer. Geo refused to relinquish the rope!

At first Byron thought Geo was just playing, and certainly this was no time for games.

But Geo was dead serious. He not only kept the noose away from Byron, but he proceeded to shred it until it was totally unusable!

Suddenly, Byron realized that Geo had somehow realized what he had intended to use the rope for. And he had prevented it.

His depression didn’t end immediately, but it did make him think harder about the impact his actions would have on his family, and on poor Geo.

After making the decision to abandon thoughts of suicide, if for no other reason that that Geo needed him, Bryon got yet another swift kick from life:

The biopsy of a lump on Geo’s head came back malignant….a particularly difficult form of cancer to fight.

But, since Geo didn’t give up on him, Byron decided to fight with everything possible to keep Geo alive!

He can’t afford the astronomical expense, so he has started an online fundraiser to save Geo’s life.

Here’s hoping that Byron and Geo get to spend a lot more quality years together, and that the “black dog” of depression never visits Byron ever again.

But no matter what happens, we have learned that man’s best friend is named such for a reason.

And sometimes, he’s not just a friend…but a protective angel from God.

Clark is a great dog that has great manners, loves everyone he meets, cherishes his toys, and absolutely adores his owners Rebecca and her fiance.

He’s the perfect companion except for one thing – he hates baths. And because he hates baths he thinks everyone else in the household loathes them just as much.

“The bathtub is the bane of his existence,” Rebecca said.

The family just moved into a home that has a bathtub, but in their old home, they just had a shower.

Clark never seemed to be upset that they got in the shower but apparently, he has a real issue with this big porcelain tub.

Each time a family member takes a bath he feels he needs to comfort them because he knows what it’s like to be in that horrible thing!

So he does the only thing he can think of that makes him feel better:

He brings them his favorite green toy!

He shows up with a concerned look on his face knowing that they have to be completely miserable and showing pity on his face for them.

“He wants to save us from the bath,” Rebecca said.

“He stays for a good five minutes. This is the torture part for him and he’s super upset and sad.”

Then he offers the only thing that helps him when he’s forced into the porcelain monster and grabs his green toy and slips it into them.

“He wanders off and returns after a few seconds with his green toy and plops it in the tub, to which he immediately cheers up!” Rebecca said.

“It’s all he has to give and he does it every time. He is so sweet.”

“After he drops his toy in we offer it back and he won’t take it, ever (but we still try). We always tell him what a good boy he is and give him a pet.”

But it must be noted that Clark never offers his favorite toy at any other time, so this makes his special gesture even more adorable!

Anyone who watched TV in the 1950s knows that a dog can be someone’s best friend, especially if you happen to be in trouble.

Lassie pulled off rescue after rescue with her best friend Timmy at his side.

Timmy’s mama knew that when Lassie came running into the yard barking and leaping about, Timmy was in trouble.

In truth, sometimes we don’t pay enough attention to our dogs when they are trying to tell us something…

As a perfect example, one loyal little dachshund tried valiantly one day to get his owner to listen to him.

But, his owner, Tim Chavez, didn’t listen.

He just kept looking for the two dogs that had gotten out of the yard that morning and disappeared: Jazzy, a Saint Bernard and Layla, a pit bull. They’d left Razor the dachshund behind.

Razor immediately sounded the alarm, but nobody noticed. When his owner noticed that Razor was acting strange, he wrote it off to him missing his buddies.

“I went to feed him, and he was kind of going crazy, trying to get my attention,” Chavez said.

Hindsight is always 20-20. But at the time, the owner just didn’t believe Razor knew where Jazzy and Layla were.

And it was time for him to go to work, so he abandoned the search for the other two dogs and patted Razor goodbye.

Razor didn’t just sit at home and fret though. Like a good friend, he immediately went off to seek help somewhere else; he went to a neighbor’s house and barked and barked.

Finally, someone listened.

“He noticed that Razor was kind of running amok, and just causing a scene and trying to get this attention,” Chavez said.

Suddenly Razor took off across a field, running along the edge of an irrigation ditch. The neighbor followed, wondering what on earth the little dog had found…

What Razor had found, was what he’d known all along:

Jazzy was stuck in the cold sticky mud at the bottom of the drainage ditch. Time was running out for her, as she’d been trapped almost 18 hours by that time.

Once the police were alerted the situation, the quiet area was abuzz with flashing lights and sirens.

Next thing you know, eight Belen, New Mexico police and firefighters were pulling off a ditch rescue.

Using backboard straps and a long spine board, just like they would for a person, rescuers saved the 180-pound dog. And guess what?

Razor took every step with them, and oversaw the entire operation, just like the loyal pal he is!

“It’s never happened in my career, and in this business, we see a lot of things.

This is the first time that we participated in something like this,” said Manny Garcia, Belen’s fire chief.

“This is a great story. One I think that is very unique, and one that animal lovers across our state will love,” he said.

Chavez is sorry now that he didn’t pay more attention to Razor’s frantic barking and jumping.

It never crossed his mind that Razor might know where the missing dog was, much less that she was in trouble.

He is so grateful that someone followed Razor, and that Jazzy was found in time to save her life.

He’s glad to have the two of them back home safe and sound, although is still concerned about Layla, who has not yet been found.

“It really means a lot. You don’t really realize how attached you are to your pets until something like this happens,” he said.

He took Razor to a City Council Meeting recently, where the Council honored Razor for his heroism.

Razor accepted the accolades with an “aw shucks” attitude.

After all, he figures, that’s just what friends are for…and maybe one day, he’ll help save Layla, too!

For parents, there are countless milestones to look forward to.

The time really does go by in a flash, and that’s part of what makes each and every achievement so special.

For example, a baby’s first steps are a pretty monumental accomplishment, as is the first time they say those precious words: Mama or dada.

As you’ll see in this adorable video, mom is doing her best to get an adorable nine-month-old baby named Sam Diaz-Giovanini to say those precious words.

…but there’s somebody else who’s trying to steal her attention while she’s doing so.

That somebody else would be the family’s miniature Australian Shepherd named Patch.

Mom is tempting the baby with a treat to get Sam to say what she wants to hear, but Patch wants in on the deal, too!

Sam and Patch are adorably vying for mom’s attention, and it’s pretty tough to determine which one looks to be more excited.

As the video moves along, Sam gets a little frustrated when Patch beats him to the punch, and he playfully pushes the pooch away.

While it looks like the baby won this round, the family would upload an update to let everyone know that Patch got his as well.

You can check out this adorable little scene in the video below.

Owning a pet is the same sort of responsibility as having a child. You are obligated to keep it safe, healthy and happy.

A lot of people don’t take that responsibility seriously and their pets suffer for it.

Others do the very best they can do, and are horrified when things out of their control put their pets in danger.

Jane Morris of DeLand, Florida knows what it’s like to watch in horror as something terrible happens to a beloved pet.

One day she saw her cat Reese acting strangely in the yard…she watched for a moment, then ran to her when Reese suddenly collapsed.

She was horrified to see something sticking out of her cat’s side!

When she got closer she could see that it was the arrow from a crossbow.

“I saw the arrow sticking out and I rushed over to her.”

It was horrible; the arrow had entered near her chest and pushed all the way out near her tail.

Morris raced her cat to the vet where Reese immediately went in for emergency surgery. Would Jane be in time to save Reese’s life…?

Well, Reese did indeed surprise everyone, even the surgeon, when she managed to survive!

The arrow missed any vital organs, the only reason Reese lived long enough to get to a vet, but the weapon still did a lot of damage.

She still cannot use one leg, although she is improving daily, and sadly, there is still a chance the leg will have to be amputated.

The event almost broke Morris’s heart thinking of the pain her pet was enduring. But, even more than the horror was the concern about the safety of her neighborhood.

If this could happen to Reese, who’s to say it wouldn’t happen to anyone else?

Morris said, “the kids play in these woods and it’s really scary to know that there’s someone out there who would do this to an animal.”

Morris submitted a report to the local animal control in hopes of finding the perpetrator. She also kept the arrow as evidence.

She has also offered a $200 reward for information about the perpetrator. But until then, we can all only hope the shooter doesn’t strike again.

It’s always wise to keep your pets indoors unless they are being supervised or are in an enclosed area (sadly, difficult to do for a cat).

Morris will likely be keeping a lot closer eye on Reese in the future for sure!

And hopefully they will find the owner of the crossbow and he will be brought to justice. Even if it was an accident, someone still needs to pay the piper!

Dogs do amazing things for their puppies and their owners.

Sometimes, they go so far above and beyond the call of duty, even news stations have to react.

That’s what happened in South America, where a junkyard dog named Lilica has been making headlines…all because of her nightly trek.

Lilica’s owner dumped her outside a junkyard in São Carlos, Brazil but luckily for the scared and abandoned canine, the junkyard owner took her in.

Lilica immediately took to the owner and his wife and children; they quickly became her new family and she loved them to pieces.

On top of which, the friendly pooch got a chance to meet all the junkyard customers, too, so she got to be sociable all day long.

Heck, Lilica even befriended other animals, like the chickens and cats also living around the junkyard. It was like one big party!

Then one day, Lilica became pregnant. This was a great thing for her but for the junkyard owner, the costs were adding up…

And it just didn’t help matters when Lilica gave birth to a big litter of 8 healthy puppies. How could the owner care for them all? He had a family too, after all.

Well, it was as if the new canine mother knew everyone, including her puppies, needed her help.

She started to make a nightly four-mile trek that nobody could quite figure out (at first). But she always managed to return with something special.

It was so incredible that it made the local news, and when you see the story unfold, you’ll be cheering Lilica on!

Can a dog REALLY do this? How did she even know to try?

Well, perhaps we could just say that maternal instincts are incredible, and such genius dogs continue to amaze the world!

It’s never easy when a loved one is at death’s door.

You want to do anything to make that person feel better. You’re willing to grant any wish, if you can.

So when Mona Ahmed heard what her good friend Harold wanted, she knew she had to make his wish come true.

Harold is dying of esophageal cancer that has moved to his liver and lungs; sadly, there is no hope for the sick man.

But when he was asked what could be done for him, he didn’t think of himself. Amazingly, few people on their sickbeds think of themselves.

No, Harold thought of his best friend, a 10-year-old beagle mix named Rowdy.

Harold and Rowdy had become fixtures of a local playground in recent years, and it’s very likely that poor Rowdy misses those outings with his ailing master.

So what will happen to Rowdy when Harold passed on? Well, the first thought that came to mind was moving Rowdy to a shelter.

But Mona just refused to let that happen; she had a better idea.

For the time being, Mona has decided to look after Rowdy because she believes he wouldn’t do well in the tight, confined space of an animal shelter.

She can’t keep him, however, and is actively searching for a home for Rowdy:

“I would like to do a home check to see that Rowdy goes to the right home because I want to make sure about the fence and it will be good if somebody has another dog

…She’s 10 but she still plays like she’s five.

She is such a happy and lovely energetic dog, she really misses her owner and she will, of course, be happy to go to another loving home, somewhere around FRESNO, California or someone who can travel…“

And that’s how you make a dying man happy.

Howard is lucky to have a friend like Mona, who will make absolutely certain that Rowdy has a good home somewhere, and he won’t end up in a shelter.

Lastly, this proves the lasting impact dogs have on humans…in his declining moments, Harold could think of only one thing.

Dog lovers can relate, can’t they?
