Woman Spots A Dog Riding Piggyback – Realizes The Situation Isn’t What It Seems

By
What do you think when you see a dog riding on a bicyclist’s back?
Well, maybe you think it’s just a cute little stunt. It’s a well-trained pup and it didn’t want to stay behind when his master went out for a ride.
That’s what most passerby thought when they saw Jarrett Little carrying a puppy on his back, as he pedaled through the outskirts of Columbus, Ohio.
But it wasn’t a cute little stunt. And in fact, Jarrett wasn’t the pooch’s master.
Jarrett was part of a biking group that came across the pup and at first, a few of them thought it was a fox. Then when the scared animal started running toward them, they realized it was a stray dog.
The poor thing appeared to be in bad shape, too.
The dog, which Jarrett quickly named Columbo, might’ve been hit by a car and was obviously injured. And as Jarrett said with compassion:
“We couldn’t leave him.”
Well, due to Columbo’s injury, he couldn’t very well jog alongside the bikers, now could he?
And they were a long way from civilization so instead of getting rescuers out there, Jarrett got an idea:
He put the dog on his back and started to pedal to safety!
After a 30-minute ride (that’s a long time for a dog to be on someone’s back!), Jarrett and Columbo met a woman named Andrea Shaw.
For some reason, Columbo immediately started licking her as if she were an old friend … it was love at first sight!
When Andrea heart the pooch’s story, she knew she just had to take Columbo home. But he needed to be treated for his injuries first.
The good news is that these injuries weren’t too severe and the brave pup recovered quickly. Then it was off to his new forever home!
This is one of those incredible rescue stories that just doesn’t seem real, but it is:
A bicyclist rescues a pup on the side of the road, hoists the injured creature onto his back, and finds someone who will love that creature until the end of its days.
Kind fate works in mysterious ways. 😉
