Pilot Makes Surprise Announcement, Then Passengers Are Shocked To See What He’s Carrying
Typically, you don’t want to hear your name over the PA system on an airplane.
Given the immense security surrounding air travel these days, that’s enough to get your heart pounding in your ears.
“Oh no, what did I do…?”
So when one Southwest Airlines passenger heard the pilot singling out her name over the intercom before takeoff, she probably thought it wasn’t good news.
But as it turns out, veteran Captain John Richie, a former Air Force pilot who has been with Southwest for 22 years, merely wanted to give passenger Jennifer Todd a token of his appreciation.
Why?
Because as Richie informed the surprised passengers:

“Today is a special day. Ever since I started with Southwest, I’ve kept track of the passengers I’ve flown, and today I’m flying my one millionth passenger.”
The passengers cheered and then Richie walked over to his one millionth passenger and presented Todd with a bottle of champagne, an autographed copy of her boarding card, and one other prize:
“I did a little bit of snooping, and I found out how much you paid for your ticket,” he said.
Todd posted the video on Facebook and it has since gained plenty of attention: 1.3 million views!
But there’s a reason, of course.
Things like this just don’t happen often and when they do, it makes everyone smile.
Pilots often have cheerful attitudes but this goes above and beyond what any passenger would’ve expected!
