Petrified Animal Runs In Endless Circles – Rescuers Then Notice A Strange Object On Its Head

By
When firefighters at the Pasco County Fire Department looked outside, they couldn’t believe what they saw.
In fact, they weren’t even sure what they were looking at!
There appeared to be a furry animal running around in circles, with something strange stuck on its head…
Firefighter Joseph Skanks was the first to catch sight of the odd phenomenon, and he knew the animal really needed help.
Being a firefighter, Skanks rushed outside to get see if he could get closer to the scared creature. But the poor thing was absolutely terrified and ran off into the bushes.
A couple more firefighters came out to try to catch the elusive animal, but no dice.
However, they did get close enough to realize what it was, and what was wrong:
It was a fox with an old mayonnaise jar stuck on its head!
As Corey Dierdorff, public information officer for the Fire Rescue Department, describes the situation:
“He went and grabbed a couple of guys, and said, ‘You won’t believe what’s going on outside. There’s a fox over here with a mayonnaise jar on [his] head.’
So they go out and try to catch him by hand, and he scurries off into the woods.”
What ensued was a frustrating game of hide-and-seek. Foxes are awfully quick and agile, even with giant jars stuck on their heads!
The firefighters finally called in some help; they contacted Owl’s Nest Sanctuary for Wildlife and they arrived on the scene to help trap the petrified young creature.
At long last, they caught the little guy and the team quickly worked to free him from his glass prison.
“They were lightly pulling the jar to make sure they wouldn’t hurt the fox,” Dierdorff explained.
“When his head popped out everyone was excited.”
Given the fox’s condition, rescue workers estimated the poor creature had been trapped in the jar for a whole week!
But he was finally free, and the team was quick to give him some food and fluids. They couldn’t believe the fox was even alive, actually.
That’s why they named the brave animal “Miracle.” It fits, doesn’t it?
Finished Dierdorff:
“Every life is valuable to us, and we’re going to do whatever we can to save any life whether it be a person or an animal.
We’re constantly pulling ducks out of storm drains, helping horses who may be stuck or livestock who has gotten out and we still run cat-in-the-tree calls.
So any type of animal, any type of life, is really important to us and we take it very seriously.”
Isn’t it great to know that people like this exist, and work hard every day to protect our animal friends? 🙂
