Abandoned 18-Year-Old Blind Dog On Death Row Begs Volunteer For One Sign Of Love

Imagine being old, blind and terrified.

Little Muneca found herself at the shelter after losing her forever home and her owner, and she didn’t understand where she was, or why.

It’s unimaginable what the sweet old girl was feeling.

That’s when a volunteer, Elaine Seamans, got Meneca out of her cage and got on the floor with her. She wanted to give her special attention to try to calm the poor dog’s nerves.

Muneca knew that Elaine was right there beside her and stood there really still for a few moments. Elaine spoke to her in a soft, sweet tone.

Suddenly, the old flea-infested pup leaped right into Elaine’s arms and tears swelled in her hazy blind eyes.

Fortunately, photographer John Hwang had stopped in the shelter while working on a homelessness project and walked in on the moment and started snapping.

Elaine asked him if he’d be willing to add another type of homelessness that is often looked over to his project – homeless pets.

His heart had already melted because of the tender moment he walked in on.

“When I got to the shelter, Elaine was already holding the dog,” he said.

“The dog was clinging on to her.” “Elaine is so amazing with the dogs,” he adds.

“She’ll roll on the ground with the shelter dogs. She’ll kiss them. She really has a special chemistry with them.

I love capturing that.”

“Ultimately, the person who sees the photo — I want them to feel something. I want them to feel a connection,” Hwang says.

“If I can capture the right sort of connect, then the person who sees the image will feel it too.”

Not only did the images he captured bring to light the thankless affection volunteers shower on shelter pets, but it also helped little Muneca get a better life.

His pictures were posted on Facebook and she captured the hearts of a group called Frosted Faces. They really wanted to help!

After only two days at the shelter, Muneca was on her way to a vet in San Diego for treatment.

She is now in a loving foster home until her new forever family adopts her.
