Cow Escapes Slaughterhouse, Charges Into A Lake, Ends Up Where Nobody Can Hurt Her

By
We all fight to stay alive.
We have an innate strength that arises when faced with fight or flight situations.
In this respect, animals and humans are very much alike; the survival instinct is present in all living creatures.
Recently, a cow in Poland had a very human response to danger.
Whether or not she realized she was on her way to a slaughterhouse to be killed, she definitely realized that she was in some sort of danger.
And she reacted just as any of us would have when faced with imminent danger…she ran!
But she didn’t just run. No, she ended up going on an epic escape adventure that made headlines. Check it out:
When her owner Mr. Lukasz tried to get the Limousin cow onto a truck that was to take her to the slaughterhouse, the cow thought, “hell no, I won’t go!”
She didn’t fight, but she definitely decided to take flight!
Even though she didn’t seem to want to hurt anyone, she inadvertently broke the arm of one of Mr. Lukasz’s workers during her mad escape when she rammed into a metal fence.
Then, after crashing through it, she raced madly away and jumped into nearby Lake Nysa. She was going to get away or die trying!
Onlookers were totally stunned. Cows don’t usually think of water as an escape route, but then, this cow had already proven she wasn’t your usual bovine.
Once in the water, she swam valiantly to a nearby island. Mr. Lukasz insists that he even saw her diving under the water at one point…perhaps channeling an inner porpoise?
Mr. Lukasz tried for a week to get the cow back to his farm, but finally relented and began just taking her enough food to survive.
When firefighters used a boat to get to the island, the cow took off yet again!
She took to the water once more and swam about 50 meters to a neighboring peninsula. This creature definitely was not about to go down without a fight!
Mr. Lukasz considered just having the cow shot dead instead of tranquilized, but before he could take any action, a local politician and former singer Pawel Kukiz stepped in.
He offered to sponsor the cow if everyone just left her alone, and perhaps transported her to a safe haven to live out her remaining life.
His Facebook page lit up with supporters, offering to help in any way they could.
The cow was receiving so much attention that at that point there was no one willing to pull the trigger on her.
“She escaped heroically and infiltrated the island in the middle of the lake, where it remains today,” Mr Kukiz said, according to Polish news magazine Wprost.
“She did not succumb to firefighters who wanted to transport her by boat and she was still on the battlefield.
“I am not a vegetarian, but fortitude and the will to fight for this cow’s life is invaluable.
Therefore, I decided to do everything to cause the cow to be delivered to a safe place and in the second stage, as a reward for her attitude, give her a guarantee of a long-term retirement and natural death.”
Several people who responded to posts and stories about the cow said she was proving again that “Polish Resistance” was not to be reckoned with!
May she live a long and ‘cowabundatly’ wonderful life in her newfound home. 😀
