Tiny Dachshund’s Face Swells To Immense Size. Vets Are Baffled Until They See One X-Ray

By
When little Trevor’s face swelled up to a ridiculous size, his owner was terrified.
Fran Jennings couldn’t guess what had caused the tiny dachshund’s face to suddenly swell up, and it was obviously a serious problem.
The poor pup had ballooned to more than three times his normal size!
Fran was incredibly alarmed, so she rushed Trevor to a nearby Willows Veterinary Group medical facility for immediate assistance.
But when she arrived, she didn’t get the answer she wanted … in fact, she didn’t get any answers at all.
The vets were all baffled as to what could possibly cause this massive swelling. As Fran said in a press release:
“They had never seen anything quite like it.
Whatever it was, it affected his breathing so we had to leave him there while they tried to find out what was wrong.”
Just when the doctors were about ready to give up, they looked closely at one particular X-Ray and suddenly, the answer became clear:
Trevor had sustained an internal injury: a small hole was found in his windpipe, and it was causing air to leak into his body.
Unbelievably, the vets had to conclude that Trevor was actually inflating himself with every breath he took!
Fran was still concerned, though. They had the answer, but could the vets fix the issue?
Thankfully, the answer was yes, and vets were able to surgically repair the hole in the pup’s windpipe. After that, Trevor immediately started to recover.
Before long, he was back to his happy, normal-sized self!
As veterinarian Michelle Coward said:
“When he came back for his checkups following the surgery he was very bouncy and happy.
He’s a great character and everybody loves him. He was a pleasure to nurse.“
That’s a very weird thing to happen, but also very scary.
Darn good thing we have such amazing animal doctors in this world, isn’t it? 🙂
