He Pins A Note To Dog’s Collar, Drives To Dunkin’ Donuts, Dumps Her And Speeds Away

When it comes to unwanted pets, there’s a right way…and a wrong way.
If you find yourself in a position where you can no longer care for an animal, the right thing to do is attempt to find it a good home.
You can ask friends and family members or put a notice online or in the paper, and if all that fails, you can find a reputable shelter.
But here’s what you DON’T do:
On Tuesday morning, the day after Christmas, Santa Fe animal services were called to a local Dunkin’ Donuts, where witnesses had spotted an abandoned dog.
It seems a man had driven into the parking lot with the dog, and the dog had gotten out with him. The man went inside, got a coffee, came out, and…
Drove away, leaving his poor pet standing, alone and frightened, in the parking lot!
Surveillance footage was unable to capture the man’s license plate number but it clearly got his face when he was inside, so the police are asking for the public’s help.
And when they found the abandoned pooch, they spotted a heartbreaking note pinned to her collar:
“I’m free. I’m having babies.“
So that’s it. She got pregnant, he decided he didn’t want the responsibility, so he dumped her in a parking lot with a note. Real classy.
The note may as well have said, “I’m too lazy and irresponsible to be a pet owner, so I’m getting rid of this dog.” What a jerk!
But the good news is the dog in question is in the care of the Santa Fe Animal Shelter and Human Society, and she’s doing well. Said PR officer Murad Kirdar:
“She is social and loves people. I was actually hanging out with her today.
We still do not know if she is pregnant — too early to tell. [But] the safety of the dog was not the person’s main concern.“
The shelter added on their Facebook page:
“Unfortunately, stories like this are all too common.
But, it’s people like you that care and truly make a difference in the life of these animals.“
Here’s hoping she finds a new home with new owners, who are loving and caring. She absolutely deserves it after being abandoned!
And again, there’s a right way and a wrong way to do things. Yes, there are times when people simply can’t properly care for an animal, so they have to make a change.
But you certainly don’t dump the poor thing in a parking lot with a pathetic note!
