Lonely Pup Tied Up Outside Shelter. Rescuers Creep Close, Notice She Won’t Stop ‘Wriggling’

The staff arrived at the Humane Society of North Texas one Thursday morning, and they figured it’d be just another typical day.
Nope.
Sitting there waiting for them was a surprise: an abandoned dog was tied up outside the door!
She looked a little tired and confused, as you might expect, and she obviously was hungry. Worse, rescuers didn’t get much help from whoever had left the poor pooch behind.
Said community relations manager Cassie Lackey:
“She had no note, no collar or anything.
The rope was wrapped around her neck about six times.”
Staff members approached, but they were cautious. There’s no knowing how a strange animal will react, especially if it’s frightened…
But as they got closer, the pup’s true colors exploded and she started “wriggling” all over the place.
She was too excited to sit still! Added Lackey:
“The minute they stepped toward her, it’s as if she was saying, ‘Oh my God, there’s people here! I’m good now.’
She was friendly and so sweet since the very beginning. She will give anyone kisses, whether they like it or not!”
The team named the adorable friendly dog Betsy, and they quickly got her checked out by a veterinarian.
As it turned out, Betsy was only 2 years old and had recently given birth to a litter of puppies. She also suffered from a bacterial skin infection.
But after giving her a much-needed bath, that “wriggling” was back in full force; Betsy was just so appreciative of the staff’s efforts!
At the same time, however, it is indeed a sad situation, as Lackey says:
“We will pretty much take any animal in. It hurts our hearts to have seen her just dumped out here like that…
But it’s better she was left with us instead of ending up in a field somewhere, or off on the side of the road.”
Absolutely!
And almost immediately after being treated, Betsy got the best surprise yet: a new owner!
Ever since showing off Betsy’s wonderfully sociable personality online, a lot of people came forward hoping to adopt her.
And one lucky man did indeed go home with a wonderful new companion, and the shelter couldn’t be happier with the result.
That being said, the shelter sure will miss that lovely pup! Finished Lackey:
“She’s such a wiggly little love bug who just wants to sit on your lap and give hugs.
So many people just loved her.”
