Not long after a family moves into their new home, they hear a sound at the front door.

It’s quiet at first, then it grows…

It’s an insistent meowing!

They open the door to find a skinny, apparently confused kitty. She really wants to come inside for some reason, too.

Well, at first they just assume she’s a common stray, and she’s looking for food.

After all, she was very thin and malnourished, so the family decided to give her some help. They give her a little cat food and send her on her way.

But then, a few days later … the meowing is back.

That’s when the family starts to think there’s something special about the house they just moved into. The cat just never wants to leave.

And that’s when it hits them:

The poor stray must’ve been left behind by the previous owners! This was her house!

But without the owners, she was like a sad ghost patrolling the empty grounds.

Well, the family was just heartbroken, and they called the RSPCA in the hopes that they could find the cat a good home.

The RSPCA agreed to take her in; the staff called her Honey, and then ran a few tests to determine the kitty’s health.

Unfortunately, Honey was suffering from hyperthyroidism, which explains why she looked so skinny. But beyond that, she wasn’t too bad off.

However, they just can’t seem to find someone to adopt her. It has been 200 days, and no takers!

Said Heather Cain, chairman for the RSPCA’s Stourbridge and District shelter:

“Honey has been in foster care now for over 200 days and has watched all our other cats go off to their new homes and start their new lives…

…she wonders why no one wants her and is now starting to become stressed and bored which is beginning to affect her mental and physical well-being.”

Oh, come on!

She loses her family, thinks she gets a new one with another family moves in, and now sits for 200 days, waiting for love…?

That just seems wrong!

Somebody must want this adorable 8-year-old cat. She’s described as being “incredibly sweet” and she loves playing with toys and getting people’s attention.

Added Cain:

“Honey has blossomed into a loving girl and, despite being slightly older, she still enjoys a little play now and again and is young at heart.

She just needs a family who will love her.”

Honey deserves a happy ending, wouldn’t you say?

Bree was out walking her dog on a cold morning in Queensland, Australia.

Things seemed pretty normal … until she stumbled across 10 abandoned kittens huddled by the side of the road!

These poor little kitties were scared and starving, though they didn’t seem too frightened by Bree’s pet pup.

Bree just wasn’t sure what she should do for the kittens; she couldn’t very well take all 10 home, and she lived a mile away.

So, she thought she’d go home and call a rescue team. It was her best option.

But when she started off down the road again, all 10 baby cats started following her!

Bree kept looking behind her and there they were, following as quickly as they could … again, not even caring one fig about Bree’s dog!

Bree wasn’t too sure what the kittens wanted, though…

Perhaps they only wanted food or some company, but would ten kittens really follow someone for a mile down the road?

Maybe they wanted something more.

Bree was determined to find out, that’s for sure!

She let the kittens follow her and her dog, and when one of the baby cats fell behind, she picked him up and carried him.

Finally, the long mile was over and Bree was home … with a whole bevy of kittens on her heels!

And the instant all the kittens were inside the house, Bree realized that every last one of these poor orphans wanted one thing:

LOVE.

They didn’t follow this strange woman for a mile for only food or water. They didn’t do it because they were terrified.

They did it because they wanted to be loved! And the one person who was supposed to love them, ditched them instead.

And Bree was just so disgusted that someone would do such a thing:

“I was disgusted that someone had just dumped them.

If you can’t afford to desex your cat, or look after and find homes for kittens don’t own a cat.”

Well said!

And by the way, that one little kitten that couldn’t keep up with its brothers and sisters? The one Bree carried?

She ended up keeping that little guy!

And Bree will now see to it that the other nine kittens also find good homes, because that’s what kind-hearted humans do.

In the end, our four-legged friends just want to be loved … if they’re following you, you can bet that’s what they want!

Tommy lived as a stray in California for years.

The lonely cat would often show up in a certain family’s backyard, looking for some food and affection.

Then one day, Tommy showed up as usual … but very clearly, something awful had happened to the poor kitty.

Tommy had severe burns all over his face and he was obviously in a lot of pain.

In horror, the family realized that someone had poured acid all over the innocent creature!

Well, they couldn’t just let Tommy walk around like that, so they quickly scooped him up and rushed him to the vet’s.

And at first, after the vet realized Tommy had FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus), he wanted to put the cat down.

But the family didn’t like that idea, because they really saw something special in Tommy…

They believed this cat had a ton to offer the world; there was just something about his personality.

So, despite the odds being stacked against Tommy, they decided to push forward and give him a chance: they contacted Milo’s Sanctuary to see if they would accept the suffering cat.

Thankfully, they were happy to take Tommy in, and that’s when his long road to recovery began.

For six long weeks, Tommy slowly got better and better. He underwent numerous skin grafts and lots of bandaging and rebandaging, too.

But Tommy never lost his lovable demeanor and as it turns out, that attitude, coupled with his “new look,” went a long way…

As lo and behold, the family was exactly right: they really HAD seen something special in Tommy, because this kitty had what Hollywood calls, “the ‘it’ factor!”

Incredibly, the unique-looking kitty became the camera’s best friend overnight!

Tommy’s quirky face and outgoing personality are perfect for pictures, as Milo’s Sanctuary president Michele Hoffman says:

“He loves to go out in the public and meet friends.

He’s kind of a ham and knows when he’s having his photo taken.

He loves tuna flakes and that’s one of our secrets to the great photos of him. He would do just about anything for some tuna flakes.”

Though Tommy has only one eye, he doesn’t act like a disabled animal at all.

He loves all the attention!

And now that he’s such a big hit, Tommy has his own Instagram account under the fantastic name, Sir Thomas Trueheart.

Added Hoffman:

“That has been the most amazing thing to be a part of … how much people love him and how much he’s inspired people all over the world.

On his [Instagram] account every Thursday we do Cruelty Free Thursday with Tommy and cover different subjects, and it is our desire to get people motivated to make a difference locally and globally for those who cannot speak for themselves.”

From being a frightened stray that gets acid dumped all over him, to inspiring millions.

…that might be the biggest and best turnaround ever!

When Ruth Rickard arrived on work on Sunday morning, she spotted a pet carrier outside the door.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t a surprising sight.

Many people just abandon pets outside the Gables Farm Dogs and Cats Home, as they do at many shelters.

And even more unfortunately, they don’t usually make the ditched pets feel very comfortable…

This particular pet, a beautiful though obviously cold and scared orange cat, wasn’t comfortable at all.

It was cold outside and the cat was freezing in that empty crate with no blankets. She also didn’t have any food or water.

As Rickard told The Dodo:

“When I found her, she just looked terrified and cold and was very thin.“

Again, this is the sort of thing volunteers are used to seeing. The world can be a very dark place for our four-legged friends, after all.

But there was something unique about this drop-off:

There was a note taped to the crate.

In the note, the cat’s previous owner tried to explain why he’d left the poor kitty at the shelter.

It seems the kitty suffered from constant diarrhea and wouldn’t use a litter box, and the owner just couldn’t handle it anymore.

Obviously, this was a sick animal but instead of taking responsibility and seeking the proper care for his pet, the owner just dumped it.

On top of which, because the cat was very skinny, it was obvious she hadn’t been properly cared for.

Said Rickard:

“The sad thing is that if the owner had approached us for help then we would have taken this poor cat into our care, as we always make space for desperate cases, and then the poor kitty would not have been left outside in danger.

If the cat had got out of the cat box there is a very busy and dangerous road that runs past our rescue center.”

But thankfully, the cat – who the shelter ultimately named Dusty – is improving every day, and she’s finally getting the care she so urgently required.

“We are just happy that she is safe now and getting the veterinary care that she needs plus lots of TLC,” Rickard said.

Great to hear!

But really, pet owners need to remember that they have a very important responsibility:

If you’re not willing to accept that responsibility, don’t get a pet! Right, fellow animal lovers?

When Theo’s owner woke up one night, she was feeling shaky and ill.

But Charlotte Dixon just figured she had a cold, so she rolled over and tried to go back to sleep.

But for some reason, Theo wasn’t having it.

He absolutely would not let his poor owner sleep … but he had a very good reason, though Charlotte didn’t realize it at the time.

As Charlotte recalls:

“Theo wouldn’t let me [sleep] and was behaving very strangely and out of character.

He kept batting me with his paw, meowing and jumping on me—keeping me awake.

Eventually I decided to call my mom and she called an ambulance.“

If she hadn’t done this, she probably wouldn’t have survived the night.

That’s because the paramedics quickly recognized the signs of a dangerous blood clot, and Charlotte required immediate medical help.

Amazingly enough, it was Theo that saved her life!

“Theo is a very intuitive cat, he always knows when I’m feeling down or if I’m feeling poorly,” she told SWNS.

“That night somehow he knew something was going on and he wouldn’t leave me alone.

I don’t know why he did that, but when I’m poorly he always stays with me.”

News of the heroic cat’s actions spread far and wide and then Theo received the most amazing honor:

He won the National Cat of the Year 2018 award!

But unfortunately, Theo passed away before he could claim that award, and it’s up to Charlotte to claim it for her dearly departed savior.

“All cats are amazing but I owe my life to Theo.

We always had a close bond and I feel this award is a truly wonderful way to celebrate his life.

I’m devastated that he’s gone but I’m so proud of him for winning.

It shows I’m not the only one who thinks he was a really special cat.”

Certainly not; the whole world will remember Theo now!

Theo, the Hero Cat, will never be forgotten, by his ever-thankful owner or all the millions of animal lovers around the world.

Cats can be eccentric creatures.

And one adorable 5-year-old tabby named Ozzy is no exception.

On the surface, Ozzy is like most cats: he loves to cuddle and sleep, and he can be both playful and mischievous.

But in fact, he’s quite unique … he has a love that nobody can explain, but it might be the sweetest thing ever!

You see, Ozzy is in love.

But he’s not in love with a female kitty, or even his owner. No, Ozzy adores something else entirely, and it’s something you might enjoy eating on a warm summer day.

Any guesses…?

It’s peaches!

Yes, Ozzy the cat loves fuzzy, ripe peaches. He just can’t get enough of them, and he actually uses them in multiple ways.

Says Lydia Coutré, whose parents own Ozzy:

“He nuzzles them, uses them as a pillow to rest, or just stands over them guarding them.

“[He] was introduced to them the first peach season our family had him.

He found them on the table and immediately started rubbing on them the first time he was around them, so we think it’s probably the feeling of the peaches that he likes.”

Ozzy’s owners leave the peaches out to ripen on newspaper sheets, which is exactly where Ozzy wants that fruit.

He jumps up and nuzzles the fruits for hours on end. And if those peaches are unavailable, well there’s trouble:

“My mom once put the peaches in the basement to keep them away from Ozzy,” Coutré explained.

“But he still found them, and left a cat-sized hole in the middle of what were previously neat rows of peaches.”

Ozzy was adopted in the fall of 2013, mostly because Lydia begged her mom to take Ozzy home from the shelter.

It was love at first sight, as it so often is with pretty kitties!

And Ozzy really is a cuddly, normal cat … for the most part. He just happens to love peaches, and ONLY peaches.

When a veterinary nurse stumbled across an abandoned black suitcase, she didn’t think much of it.

After all, it happens all the time.

People accidentally forget their belongings, especially when traveling. But the suitcase was in a strange spot…

It had been dumped on the side of the road, which is a weird place to forget your luggage.

And then, when the vet got a little closer, she spotted something sinister: air holes!

Somebody had poked air holes in the suitcase and there could be only reason for that:

They’d left an animal inside!

Well, being a vet, this kind soul couldn’t possibly ignore the bag any longer. So, she approached and carefully unzipped the suitcase.

She wasn’t prepared for what jumped out, that’s for sure!

15 kittens!

That’s right, 15 kittens of all different kinds; tabbies, grays, black-and-whites, all stuffed inside and left to die.

The air holes were a nice thought but obviously, without food or water, these little tykes wouldn’t have lasted very long.

The vet was instantly smitten, and she rushed all the kittens to the Cats Protection Hornchurch & District Branch for immediate attention.

As the shelter’s Welfare and Homing Officer, Alison Gambles, told Inside Edition:

“Sadly, the case was found [standing] up, which meant the kittens would have all been laying on top of each other.”

It really had been a terrible situation for the furry babies.

But the good news was that besides a few eye infections, most of the kittens appeared to be in decent condition, so they couldn’t have been there for very long.

The vet thinks the kittens were dumped by a greedy breeder, as the kitties were from three or four different litters.

Added Gambles:

“…people find they have more kittens than they can cope with because they haven’t had their cats neutered.”

Yes, well, it was their mistake and their responsibility, right?

But at least these furry cuties won’t have to worry about dying alone; all of them will be up for adoption once they’re old enough.

And it’s all thanks to a kindly veterinarian, who got a chance to do her job … before she ever got to work that day!

An animal-loving citizen heard a trapped creature crying for help, so she went outside and tried to find it.

It seemed obvious that a furry friend was in distress but for some reason, she couldn’t locate the source of the cries.

Where was it coming from…?

That’s when she remembered that her neighbor, Meike Vielsack, had lost her beloved pet a few weeks earlier, and had been looking for it ever since.

She also remembered seeing flyers around the neighborhood, begging for any news of the lost pet.

Well, this neighbor suddenly realized … the cries she was hearing must be coming from that lost furry friend!

It was a cat, Jimmy, and owner Meike feared she’d never find him. As she told The Dodo:

“He’s usually outside for no longer than a few hours.

After two days, we started hanging flyers, putting a post on Instagram and asking neighbors whether they could take a look to see if they accidentally locked him in somewhere.”

Jimmy hadn’t gone far, as Meike’s neighbor figured out:

But what a pickle Jimmy was in!

Meike’s neighbor had had a new concrete floor installed in the garage, and that’s when the neighbor started hearing the desperate meowing.

Crazily enough, it was coming from underneath the newly poured concrete slab!

Jimmy must’ve somehow squeezed under there before the pouring started, and was now trapped! As Meike said:

“I was there and he started to meow.

I immediately recognized his voice.“

Turns out there’s a cavity that runs along the rim of the slab, and that’s where Jimmy had been hiding.

The good news is, though, that Jimmy didn’t seem to be hurt … but he did need to get out!

Thankfully, it didn’t take long to open up a hole in the concrete wide enough for the frightened kitty to escape.

“I was really scared that I would have to watch him die in there.”

Jimmy certainly didn’t die, though; he got out and now he’s safe and sound!

And though he’s probably still recovering from his dark ordeal, at least he looks okay now, right?

Virginia resident Eunika Brown drove 45 miles … never realizing she was carrying a passenger!

She didn’t hear anything as she drove her van down the road.

But the instant she stopped, she heard tiny cries coming from somewhere…

Eunika recognized the cries as faint meowing, but she didn’t own a cat! And yet, it was definitely meowing, and it was close by.

She started looking around the inside of the van, and began to wonder if a stray kitty had jumped inside when she wasn’t looking.

But though the meowing continued, there was still no sign of a cat.

And that’s when Eunika finally spotted her … a kitten trapped in the fender well!

It was quite the sight! The stunned driver immediately called Petersburg Animal Care & Control and also contacted a local mechanic shop, Leete Tire & Auto.

Said Leete vice president Lea Tatum Rowsey:

“We told her to come on in and our service manager would assist.

Once [they] arrived, our service manager, Warren Strum, jumped to the rescue and started removing the fender liner.

The kitten, which you could only barely see through a small hole in the open driver side door, was meowing and clearly in distress.”

Nobody knew just how long the poor creature had been trapped in there, which is probably why she was so scared and agitated.

But finally, after about 10 minutes of careful work, rescuers popped the little guy free!

Thankfully, though the kitten was obviously thin and frightened, she didn’t appear to have any injuries.

She was given the name “Kia” for being so brave, but she didn’t have a collar or any other form of identification.

Therefore, rescuers on the scene arranged for her to be taken to a nearby shelter. What else could they do?

Well, that move wouldn’t be necessary!

As it turns out, an employee in the tire shop saw the whole thing, and instantly fell in love with Kia. He couldn’t let her got to any shelter, so…

The employee immediately adopted Kia, right on the spot!

Her new dad is service technician Chuck Williams and he’s the perfect owner for Kia. Said Rowsey:

“He is a longtime cat lover and instantly bonded with Kia.

We were so overjoyed to not only assist in the safe rescue, but also to witness her finding, or hitching a ride, to her new forever home.”

How’s that for a perfect ending to a strange and harrowing situation?

This stray cat picks the worst hiding places ever!

A McDonald’s employee named Oasha Santiago looked out the restaurant window, and noticed the stray feline wandering around near her car.

When she got off work a little later, though, she went outside and realized the cat was nowhere in sight.

But she was certain she’d seen the cat for most of the day … he had to be nearby, right?

So, Oasha decided to look around a bit for the missing kitty. And it’s a darn good thing she did!

Because unbelievably enough, Oasha eventually found the cat…

But he had wedged himself inside the car’s mechanical housing, and he was stuck right next to the engine!

Oasha quickly called the Brevard County firefighters and they arrived quickly to see if they could extract the wayward cat.

Well, they did manage to get her out, and that should be the end of the story, right?

Wrong.

Suddenly, the frightened kitty bolted from the grasp of one of the firefighters, and sprinted off. Then he found a new hiding place…

In the wheel well of a Cocoa Police officer’s squad car!

Can you imagine if the cop started the car and tried to drive away? How horrifying!

But thankfully, everyone saw the cat run in there, so the firefighters embarked on yet another rescue mission.

And this time, after they plucked the skittish kitty free, they held on to him. That wasn’t the best news, though:

Now he doesn’t have to find extremely dangerous hiding places anymore!
