But what do the four-legged creatures that don’t have a home do when they feel that way?

Thankfully, there are awesome groups like Hope for Paws that do all they can to answer that question.

The group recently got a call about a big old dog that was lingering on the streets of Los Angeles and not doing well, so the team went to check it out.

The volunteers would discover a gentle giant that was sprawled out on the sidewalk.

He was huge but clearly not threatening or hostile at all. In fact, he was just one giant teddy bear!

He didn’t take all that much coaxing to make friends with the rescuers, and they were able to quickly scoop him up and get him to a better spot.

They named their new friend Everest (given his size) and he was given a much-needed bath, a wellness exam, and of course a meal.  

Everest was pretty tuckered out after all of the excitement, and the volunteers were happy to see that he was content enough to rest really well.

They’d really done their jobs to a “T” but even so, the poor dog still seemed down and didn’t really eat as much as he should.

Well, all dogs need a good forever home. And in the end, Everest would have to travel a loooong way to find his.

Everest’s laid-back personality quickly caught the attention of a couple from Oregon.

They had a pair of therapy dogs already, and they believed that Everest would make for an awesome addition to the team.

Could this be the longed-for happiness Everest had always dreamed of…?

He was certainly going to find out because this couple was determined to turn Everest into a healthy, happy pup with a great appetite!

The couple headed down to LA so they could fly back home with their new friend.

And upon arriving back in Oregon, Everest made himself right at home and now fits in quite well with his new family.

Yes, he’s happy, and yes, he eats well. His life is perfect!

Okay, so he had to travel a long ways and wait for a while but in the end, it all turned out wonderfully.

It’s yet another awesome success story from Hope for Paws, too, and we’ll hope there are many more to come.

Their beautiful Siberian husky named Feather was stolen right from their backyard.

They just couldn’t believe their wonderful companion had disappeared out from under their noses!

The family went to the cops, but efforts to locate Feather proved to be fruitless.

Everyone had to accept the possibility that their beloved pet might be gone forever, and there was absolutely nothing anybody could do about it.

Time passed, and they had all but given up hope, when Briana suddenly received a bizarre message one day:

Brianna remembers the amazement she felt at reading this message:

“He messaged me and said [his] parents stole her out of my backyard. I was very shocked.

I just kind of stared at my phone for a second and said what?

Once I got my bearings, I said okay, what’s their name, what’s their address. Where can I find them?”

The man that sent the message explained that his estranged parents had taken the dog to another state.

Why? Well, maybe that’s unimportant; what mattered is that Feather had been found!

Briana couldn’t believe how fortunes had changed, and she quickly contacted the police to provide them with the new information she had learned.

The cops coordinated with their colleagues in that jurisdiction, and Feather was retrieved and brought back home where she belongs.

Feather is beyond tickled to be home, and the same goes for Briana and the rest of her family.

While she’s glad to have her pooch back, she’s hoping that those who stole Feather will have to face justice for their outrageous actions.

As well they should! Who would do such a thing?

Unfortunately, such nasty comments are all over the place on social media and sadly, it’s just never going to change.

However, maybe this situation that has come to light will start changing some perspectives on things…

Meet Pax, a gorgeous Corgi that belongs to Morgan Moffitt.

Moffitt shared a recent picture of Pax at the groomers, and she was stunned to see the negativity that flowed back in her direction.

“Like, ‘that poor dog is so obese,'” Moffitt recalled to TODAY.

“How is he poor? I do everything to keep him healthy, happy, loved. He’s the happiest dog on the planet.“

Happy he may be but the horrid insults kept rolling in.

And you know what? Those haters are going to feel pretty bad about their harsh words, because the truth is right here:

Moffitt has opened up to share the rough road Pax has walked throughout his life, as well as the fact that he packed on some pounds after stopping some medication for one of his various ailments.

The poor pup has suffered from pneumonia, chronic back pain (perhaps due to poor breeding), and terrible separation anxiety.

So, Moffitt has decided to take the high road and share another pic of Pax that will hopefully get the message across.

That says it all right there, doesn’t it?

“It doesn’t matter how perfect you are, obviously,” Moffitt said.

“You can be a perfect, adorable dog and still get fat-shamed.“

We’ll concur wholeheartedly and hope that Moffitt’s message gains a ton of traction.  

The point is, you have no idea what this animal has gone through in his life, so you shouldn’t be blaming the current owner.

It’s not like she’s force-feeding him ten bowls of food a day and the poor thing is dying.

Doesn’t he look like a wonderfully happy and healthy pooch?

And it’s a full-time job that has resulted in saving countless animal lives.

However, challenges regularly pop up in the course of their work. And sometimes, those challenges can be potentially deadly…

A recent call came into the office to inform the group about a stray that was wandering in the desert.

The group had no idea what they were walking into, but they of course quickly headed out to see what they could do.

They were obviously concerned, given the extremely harsh conditions in which the poor stray was roaming.

Finally, after some searching, Eldad was able to track the desperate dog down.

She was clearly having a hard time surviving in the boiling heat of the desert, and she appeared to have a limp, too.

They tracked the pup until she started drinking out of a mud puddle, which was a hugely dangerous idea, given the toxins and bacteria that might be in there!

They knew they had to act fast, but their attempts to lure her with food proved to be in vain, as the dog was absolutely terrified of humans.

Eldad and his team were left with no choice but to call in the help of a local vet; specifically, a mobile vet station.

The vet arrived and managed to successfully tranquilize the pooch but again, that wasn’t the end of the rescue.

Still petrified, the dog took off even after being tranquilized! She just refused to trust humans, as you can tell.

But eventually, the tranq drug did its work, and the rescuers were finally able to scoop her up and get her some much needed care.

Over time, she began to improve and blossomed into a truly beautiful dog.

They named her Venus and after her treatment and time to grow accustomed to people again, Venus is searching for her forever home.

Here’s hoping she finds it sooner rather than later! This poor creature has been through enough, don’t you think?

Who knows how much longer she could’ve survived out there in such horrifying conditions?

Well, it’s all in a day’s work for the Hope for Paws team, though that doesn’t make their efforts any less amazing!

It’s all in a day’s work and though they’re used to it, rescuers can still come across situations that they find especially tough to shake…

That was certainly the case for workers from Animal Aid Unlimited in India, as they became aware of a young dog that was howling in pain.

They were summoned to check it out, and they would arrive to find a poor pooch with a severed ear that was screaming and crying.  

The workers were able to gently scoop the little guy up and bring him back to the shelter.

After cleaning him up and conducting a closer examination, they realized his ear was nearly completely severed.

No wonder he was in such tremendous pain!

A trip to the vet was quickly on the docket, and it was determined that the dog, who they named Banjo, needed surgery right away.

If he didn’t get medical assistance immediately, who knows what might happen?

Luckily, Banjo was a real trooper!

The surgery was a big success, and he handled his recovery period like a champ.

He did extremely well immediately after leaving the vet’s, and he continues to improve with every passing day.

Now, brave little Banjo is doing much better and even making a ton of friends around the shelter.

He’s such a lovable and likeable pup that the other dogs just think he’s the best!

He’s obviously a great deal happier…can’t you tell?

Things are a whole lot better in Banjo’s world these days, and that’s all thanks to the awesome folks from Animal Aid Unlimited.

No matter what the situation, good rescuers will always believe in the animal, and they’ll never give up!

We just wish everyone could be so wonderfully kind-hearted.

Of course, they’d have a much better chance at pulling that off with a helping hand.

Such was the case for a pair of abandoned dogs that had taken up refuge in a house in Los Angeles that was in shambles.

Thankfully, a concerned neighbor would give rescue group Hope For Paws a call to come check it out.

Rescuers would arrive at the severely run-down house, and they would go on to learn the stunning truth from neighbors.

The dog’s owners had moved out six months ago, and they left the poor animals behind to fend for themselves.

One of the neighbors was able to get one of the dogs to come home with her, but the other wanted nothing to do with human contact.

The pooch, named Flash, would take off under the house whenever someone approached.

That left the rescue workers with quite a predicament on their hands, but they were able to devise a plan to get him to take the proverbial bait in a doggie cage.

He would try to take off again from that point, but the rescuers were able to calm him down and place a leash around his neck.

Flash was coaxed back into the cage and finally brought to safety.

An organization known as Sunny Day Acres stepped in to help, and Flash showed a remarkable transformation after being around folks that loved him.   

Soon thereafter, Flash was adopted by a loving forever home.

Hats off to all involved for giving Flash a much better shot at the game of life.

A fish vendor in Vietnam is having little trouble pulling off that trick, and it’s all thanks to his adorable three-year-old cat.

That’s right, owner Le Quoc Phong has enlisted the assistance of his feline friend named Dog.  

Dog looks like the suave and debonair type that keeps a mindful eye on things, and his stylish dress has become the stuff of local legend.

His owner notes that he has a softer side as well – not to mention the fact that Dog is quite a hit with the ladies.

“Dog loves ice cream, traveling and sleeping,” Le Quoc Phong told Bored Panda. “He also has a lot of girlfriends and a lot of children in the country.”

Le also notes how photogenic his little friend his, and that Dog doesn’t mind at all when curious tourists and locals stop to take some snaps.

Photos of Dog in action have made their way to social media as well, and he’s turned into a veritable feline sensation as a result.

However, he hasn’t let that distract him from his duties, such as keeping a careful watch on the vegetables.

Or making sure that everything is on the up and up in the fish section.

Of course, Dog is far from all work and no play, and he enjoys his downtime just like everyone else.

This amazing German Shepherd falls into that category, as he knew exactly what to do when trouble broke out.

Ben Heinrichs from Caswell Lakes in Alaska was doing some vehicle maintenance in a shop outside of his family’s home.

A spark from a heater led to a fire, and it quickly got out of hand.

Heinrichs himself caught on fire, but he was able to extinguish himself in the snow.

His trusted companion Buddy was right there by his side, and Ben remarked that they needed to get some help.

That was all he needed to say, as Buddy set out to make that happen.

The pooch set off down the road and ran into an Alaskan State trooper.

As luck would have it, the officer was responding to a call about the fire, but he couldn’t find the place because his GPS had frozen.

Buddy was on the case, and he led the officer back to the home. The dog took off like a shot once he got the officers attention, but he kept looking back to make sure he was still following him.  

The officer was absolutely following his lead, and the dog’s amazing actions led to the fire finally being extinguished.

Buddy would later be rewarded for his good deeds with a metal bowl that featured his name and the troopers’ logo.

They were doing just that on the roads around Little Rock, Arkansas when something peculiar caught their eye.

Bret and Zach caught sight of a pet crate that looked completely out of place in the brush on the side of the road.

So, they decided to pull over and check it out – and it’s a very good thing that they did!

As soon as they got over to the crate, they saw holes and markings that indicated two possibilities:

First, either some big predator had tried to get in…or a terrified, desperate animal had tried to get out!

To get to the bottom of the mystery, the father-son team cautiously opened the door.

And there was a petrified and abandoned pooch, who had obviously been left to starve by the side of the road.

Without giving it another thought, they sped back to the house to grab some dog food, and they quickly returned in their car.

Once the dog, who they would name Charlie Bravo, or CB for short, had its fill, they scooped her up and brought her home.

But they needed some funds if they were to take CB to the vet for an all-too-necessary checkup.

Before they knew it, however, they were overwhelmed with donations from folks who wanted to help pay the bill!

People had heard about the homeless pup’s terrible experience online and had quickly leapt to help.

Amazingly, the father and son ended up with more than enough for CB, and they proceeded to donate the excess funds to a local animal shelter.

Now THAT’S what animal lovers do!

Bret would go on to adopt CB, and she seems to be right at home with folks that love and care for her. As it should be!

And after the ordeal was over, CB turned out to be an incredibly loving pup in spite of her traumatic experience.

This dog rebounded quickly, but only thanks to the quick thinking of some kindly Good Samaritans.

Hats off to Bret and Zach for going above and beyond to change a needy pups life!

The post Father And Son Spot A Battered Pet Crate. They Are Horror-Struck When They Notice Strange Bite Marks appeared first on Addicting Stories.

Devastation was left in the wake of the five deadly storms, as dozens of homes were destroyed and a number of lives were claimed.

After things begin to clear, residents in Clarksville, Tennessee, began sifting through the rubble to make heads or tails of the mess.

Local resident Kim Nicholson lost everything that she owned, but her focus was solely on finding her dogs and cats.

They were family members, after all!

The devastating scene made it tough for folks to keep things together, but perspectives changed when a piece of fur was spotted amidst the devastation…

Thankfully, that piece of fur was moving, and folks in attendance didn’t hesitate to jump in and do what they could to free the four-legged friend!

One pup was freed, and a sense of group effort ruled the day as the neighborhood pitched in to help Nicholson find her pets.

Were there more alive under the horrible devastation?

Could ALL of the pets really have survived?

Well, thankfully, the story has a happy ending.

A Facebook post by John Richards later stated:

“All of the family pets were rescued and are safe.”

Hats off to members of the community for coming together in the face of such a disaster!

Remember, when deadly storms strike, everything in our homes is at risk, and that includes the lives of our beloved pets.

As you can see, this is a community that well understands this, so they worked hard to make sure all living creatures were accounted for.
